Description

The company's defense systems group is hiring a Test Engineering Manager 2 to support the Sentinel program from Colorado Springs, CO.

The role combines technical direction of test engineering work with people management for one section of test engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage test engineers spread across several scrum teams, giving technical direction under the Sentinel SOW and managing one section's people.
  • Oversee the planning, stand-up, design, integration and day-to-day running of the lab, including the integration and lab operations teams.
  • Turn the customer's contract needs into lab architecture and integration approaches that weigh technical, schedule and cost limits.
  • Build integration plans, schedules and lab operating budgets, and set lab processes that keep work compliant while hardware and software units are integrated.
  • Create test methods, procedures and equipment, defining test parameters and deciding which tests to run.
  • Run integration, regression, verification and validation testing, including product and system-level tests and checkout in system test labs, along with test planning, execution, reporting and integration support.
  • Analyse results against requirements and interfaces for each software build or hardware item, then recommend changes to test equipment, procedures or test requirements.
  • Work in DOORS to manage requirements and apply model-based systems engineering using DoDAF and SysML.
  • Work with systems engineers, software engineers, test staff, lab users and other stakeholders so lab and test requirements match the product and support verification.
  • Write, release and maintain engineering documents, including detailed test reports, and support the formal verification of the system.
  • Plan short- and long-term integration work across several concurrent baselines, bringing subsystems together into system capabilities with a focus on stability and performance.
  • Join technical exchange meetings, work with internal and external customers, and contribute to a wide range of program deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of related work experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of related experience.
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret clearance at the time you apply, current and within scope, and the ability to obtain and keep Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a timeframe the company judges reasonable for its business needs.
  • At least 1 year working in a lab or running a test campaign, covering test planning, procedure writing, test execution and reporting.
  • Hands-on familiarity with product integration, regression and verification testing.
  • Working knowledge of system integration and test principles and processes.
  • Nice to have: Earned Value Management experience.
  • Nice to have: At least 1 year leading a project or driving performance against schedule.
  • Nice to have: Experience writing and maintaining engineering documents such as test procedures, test reports, integration plans and configuration baselines.

  • Nice to have: Active CISSP DoD 8570 IAM Level III security certification.
  • Nice to have: Experience in test automation, both developing and executing automated tests.
  • Nice to have: Knowledge of model-based systems engineering with DoDAF and SysML.
  • Nice to have: Ability to work with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Nice to have: Experience with a range of embedded devices, such as microcontrollers, FPGAs and CPLDs.
