Description

The role sits in the PBWM division and centres on user research for digital banking products. You will bring the user's voice into product design and development and deliver insights that inform strategic decisions.

The purpose of the role is to make digital banking products user-centred and visually appealing, covering research, interface and experience design, stakeholder work and ongoing improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Run user research and usability tests to learn what customers need and where they struggle, then feed findings and preferences into banking products and services, working with product managers and developers.
  • Design intuitive, easy-to-use interfaces for digital banking platforms and apps so the experience feels smooth and engaging.
  • Design and maintain visually appealing, consistent interfaces that follow the bank's brand identity and design guidelines across digital products.
  • Build wireframes and interactive prototypes to show and test product concepts and features before they are built.
  • Make sure designs meet accessibility standards and guidelines so every user gets an inclusive experience.
  • Track industry trends, design best practice and emerging technology to keep raising design quality and bringing new ideas into banking products.
  • As an Assistant Vice President, advise on and influence decisions, help shape policy and take responsibility for how well operations run. Work closely with other functions and business divisions.
  • Lead a team on complex work that affects the whole business function. Set objectives, coach people towards them, review performance against them and decide reward outcomes.
  • If you manage people, model the four LEAD behaviours: listen and be authentic, energise and inspire, align across the enterprise, and develop others.
  • If you work as an individual contributor, lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured work. Bring in other specialisms where needed and propose new directions for projects by combining cross-functional methods.
  • Advise people leaders on complex escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to reduce risk and write new policies and procedures that support control and governance. Own risk management and tighten controls for your work.
  • Understand how your work connects with neighbouring areas and how they support the objectives of the sub-function.
  • Work with business-aligned support areas to stay current on business activity and strategy.
  • Analyse complex data from internal and external sources, including practices from other teams and companies, to solve problems creatively.
  • Explain complex information, including sensitive material, to audiences who may find it hard to take in.
  • Persuade stakeholders to reach outcomes.
  • Show the company Values (Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Stewardship) and the company Mindset (Empower, Challenge and Drive) in how you work.

Requirements

  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, including how to put each method into practice.
  • Strong communication skills, especially in playing back and presenting insights.
  • Ability to help shape and influence business and product strategy.
  • Experience working with data platforms is highly valued.
  • Experience shaping propositions is highly valued.
  • Financial services experience or experience in a large organisation is highly valued.
  • You may be assessed on critical skills such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology skills, and job-specific technical skills.
