Senior UX Designer, Consumer (m/f/d)

Description

You will help the company build sustainable financial services by putting real user needs at the centre of its work. Your job is to research, question and explain who the services are for, and to push for relevance for those people.

You join an international group of UX designers, UI designers, service designers and UX writers, but you work across the organisation and support colleagues in several European countries.

The company is part of the family-owned Bertelsmann group, has over 4,000 people in 11 countries, and provides flexible payment options for known brands and helps people repay debt.

Responsibilities

• You report to the Design Lead, Consumer, and support a consumer team of UX design, service design, research and UX writing. The work helps users understand and move through the company's services across consumer channels and touchpoints.
• You improve how users interact with the service at every consumer touchpoint. This means doing research, sketching wireframes, building prototypes and making sure the experience is smooth, easy to use and meets both user needs and business goals.
• Most of your time goes into gathering and analysing the information needed to create and justify a design.
• You produce end-to-end flows that guide users through a product or service, plus wireframes and prototypes to test and refine how it works and feels.
• You check whether a design achieves what it was meant to do.
• You review user feedback and performance data to keep improving the experience.
• You work on the design system, creating high-fidelity designs and UI components for it.
• You work closely with product, tech and your manager to keep your work aligned with business initiatives.
• You speak up for customers, build a strong design culture and encourage a human-centred way of thinking across the team.

Requirements

• You can run user research, identify what users need and turn those needs into intuitive, effective design solutions.
• You have led end-to-end product design, from first ideas to final implementation, while keeping business goals and technical limits in mind.
• You create wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs in Figma.
• You work well with cross-functional colleagues such as product managers, engineers and stakeholders, and you deliver strong user experiences in a fast-moving environment.
• You understand interaction design, information architecture and usability best practices, and you build clear user flows and intuitive interfaces.
• Especially welcome, though not required:
• Experience mentoring junior designers and helping the design team grow.
• Experience working with several designers and stakeholders on goals across complex product ecosystems.
• Experience with financial services or fintech products.
• Familiarity with product frameworks and development technologies.
• Experience with B2B, B2C and/or B2B2C products.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards such as WCAG and how to apply them in design.

Conditions

This is a full-time role based in Amsterdam, Berlin or Heerenveen, with flexible working arrangements available.

The company works in a regionally distributed hybrid setup, with an expectation of being in the office twice a week.

Occasional travel is needed to meet the team in person for team huddles or cross-functional workshops.
