Description

The US generic pharmaceutical market is highly competitive, and every part of its supply chain is under pressure. Patients now receive care through more channels, while pharmacies, wholesale distributors and manufacturers must keep adjusting to changes driven by payers, regulators, and federal and state law.

The company helps its members and their customers, and ultimately patients, by building efficient supply chain models through new sourcing solutions. Its proprietary sourcing platform is central to that work.

This role makes sure the strategic product delivery team builds technology that meets the real needs of the platform's different user groups. You will work with product managers to shape product direction, using research and user journeys to produce clear design requirements. You act as the team's voice of the user, reporting on behaviours, pain points and expectations so that development decisions rest on evidence rather than assumptions.

Responsibilities

• Plan and run user research programmes, including interviews, surveys and observations, to understand user needs and pain points and to inform product direction.
• Create wireframes, user flows and prototypes that turn research findings into intuitive digital experiences that meet usability principles, accessibility standards and the product vision.
• Lead the user experience design for machine learning and AI features in the software, as part of the wider digital and data science roadmap.
• Plan and carry out usability tests to assess how well existing designs work and to find areas for improvement.
• Work closely with product managers, software engineers and UI designers so requirements are clear, feasible and built correctly throughout development.
• Produce and maintain UX documentation, design specifications, journey maps and research summaries.
• With the Director, Strategic Product Delivery, communicate regularly with stakeholders, explaining design decisions and promoting user-centred practice across the company.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent, typically with 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience running user research through interviews, surveys, observational studies and usability evaluations.
• Ability to turn research into personas, journey maps and practical design recommendations.
• Hands-on experience producing wireframes, prototypes and user flows in Figma.
• Solid knowledge of UX principles, usability heuristics and accessibility standards.
• Proven ability to run usability tests, analyse results and improve designs based on evidence.
• Experience working with product managers, developers and UI designers in agile or cross-functional teams.
• Additional: strong communication skills for presenting research, design rationale and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Additional: ability to use analytics such as heatmaps, behavioural data and conversion metrics to support UX decisions.
• Additional: familiarity with information architecture, content structure and interaction patterns across digital platforms.
• Additional: familiarity with implementing AI and machine learning in a software platform, including efficacy testing, oversight and governance requirements.
• Additional: familiarity with Sketch or Adobe XD.
• Additional: a problem-solving approach that balances user needs, technical constraints and business goals.
