Description

This is a hybrid role based in San Jose, California, with an expectation of about 2 days per week in an office.

The company builds edge-to-cloud products that help businesses connect, protect, analyze and act on their data and applications.

The role is a senior technical program manager position within engineering, supporting teams through the development and rollout of the company's products.

Short-term projects are smaller and contained within a fixed timeframe, while longer programs span several functions and projects with complex requirements.

You will also work with engineering management to find ways to improve processes and program efficiency, and some work may involve outside parties such as standards bodies and partners.

You will contribute steadily to the technical side of products, solutions or services, act as a subject matter expert, advise functional and technical teams, and may lead and mentor others.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a program spanning several functions and project teams to drive the engineering development and rollout of a product or service.
  • Build and direct schedules, critical deliverables, budgets, resource allocation and other support needs for the program.
  • Oversee supporting project teams and internal development partners, track progress against plan, and adjust schedules and resources based on business analysis to meet product requirements.
  • Report program progress, escalations and issue analysis to product stakeholders, and work with management and internal manufacturing and development partners to recommend and implement changes to products, processes or business practices that resolve escalations and keep to budgets, roadmaps and schedules.
  • Bring new technologies and quality initiatives into projects and activities across manufacturing or engineering.
  • Guide and mentor less experienced staff.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in business management, engineering, computer science or an equivalent field.
  • 6+ years of experience as a program manager.
  • Hands-on experience developing hardware and software products for the networking industry or related IT fields.
  • Experience managing or developing software solutions deployed on public cloud, and familiarity with DevOps models using agile concepts.
  • Experience using AI tools to manage program management tasks and deliverables.
  • Extensive experience with project and program planning tools to create, manage and track results.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven business acumen and experience managing all aspects of programs, including stakeholder communication and directing matrixed teams and resources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English and the local language.
  • Ability to present program plans, proposals and results, and negotiate options with senior management.
  • PMP or PMI certification is preferred.
