Description

The company makes memory and storage products that speed up the handling of data in AI, database, and cloud workloads.

The Data Center Workload Engineering team is looking for a Senior Systems Performance Engineer to find and raise the performance of memory and storage products inside data center systems.

You will work as a hands-on individual contributor, partnering with SSD architects, product engineers, and customer teams to understand performance limits and deliver working improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Design experiments around a stated hypothesis, using believable setups and proper controls.
  • Run repeatable studies of AI, database, virtualization, or distributed-storage workloads on production-class systems.
  • Follow application I/O down to the SSD and measure efficiency, completion time, scaling, tail latency, consistency, and power.
  • Find bottlenecks and evaluate SSD features, system designs, and rival products, then recommend improvements backed by data.
  • Build test automation and analysis tools, including AI-assisted workflows.
  • Report findings through engineering reports, presentations, and customer-facing technical material.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field and have more than 3 years of experience, or hold a master's degree and have over 1 year of experience.
  • Have experience in systems performance, application benchmarking, or workload characterization.
  • Have hands-on experience deploying and debugging applications on Linux.
  • Understand the storage I/O path, including Linux I/O, file systems, block storage, NVMe, and PCIe.
  • Be proficient with performance-analysis tools and with Python or a similar language for investigating problems, automating tests, and explaining results.
  • Preferred: experience testing AI infrastructure, databases, virtualization, high-performance computing, or distributed storage.
  • Preferred: knowledge of GPU-accelerated systems or AI frameworks.
  • Preferred: familiarity with software-defined or object storage such as WEKA, Ceph, Cloudian, or MinIO.
  • Preferred: experience measuring power, efficiency, quality of service, or SSD behavior under application load.
  • Preferred: a record of building reusable analysis tools or presenting technical findings to wider audiences.
  • Preferred: working knowledge of AI-enabled productivity, automation, and analytics tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude CoWork, GitHub Copilot, Power Automate, etc.

Conditions
