Description

The company has spent more than 25 years in computer graphics, PC gaming and accelerated computing, and is now applying AI to the next generation of computing, including GPUs that serve as the processing core for computers, robots and self-driving cars.

The team is FinOps at the company. This Senior Staff Software Engineer role focuses on data engineering: building and running the pipelines and data models used for cost allocation, forecasting and optimization. The work aims to make data more reliable and to let the team bring in new sources without repeated manual effort.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and run production pipelines in Python, SQL and Databricks/Spark for cloud billing, SaaS usage and shared-service telemetry.
  • Create reusable ingestion frameworks and data contracts for APIs and file-based sources that handle schema changes, late-arriving data and safe backfills.
  • Build cost, usage and ownership models for business unit, platform and service allocation, with reconciliation and traceability back to source records.
  • Put freshness, completeness and accuracy checks, lineage and actionable monitoring in place. Diagnose incidents and automate retries, replays and recovery.
  • Tune distributed processing, storage and serving-layer queries for speed, scale and infrastructure cost.
  • Own testing, CI/CD, safe deployments and operational runbooks for data services, and take part in production support.
  • Work with Finance, infrastructure and service owners to convert reporting and governance needs into clear data models and interfaces.
  • Lead technical design and code reviews, mentor engineers, and enforce access controls and auditability across the data lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of experience building and operating production data systems in software or data engineering.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills, including writing maintainable, tested code and debugging complex data transformations.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Apache Spark and lakehouse technologies, or comparable distributed data platforms.
  • Experience with data modeling, incremental processing, partitioning, schema evolution and analytical query performance.
  • Experience building cloud pipelines and integrating REST APIs, including authentication, pagination, rate limits and error handling.
  • A record of keeping production data reliable through automated tests, data quality checks, monitoring, incident diagnosis and recovery.
  • Clear technical communication and the ability to resolve unclear data requirements with engineering and business partners.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD and secure handling of credentials and data access. Good judgment when using AI coding tools and checking the code they generate.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with FinOps, cloud billing datasets, FOCUS, SaaS license utilization or cost-allocation models across cloud and shared services.
  • Nice to have: experience with data catalogs, workflow orchestration, observability platforms or AI-assisted anomaly detection and root-cause analysis.
