Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer_Voice AI

Description

The role sits on the company's Voice AI engineering team and works on the core voice platform.

The platform covers audio intake, conversation handling, speech output, connections to APIs and self-hosted voice AI models, and a voice harness.

Responsibilities

• Help design, build and ship the core components of the voice platform.
• Work with product managers and customers to learn their use cases and technical problems, and build toward their success.
• Build and run large voice AI distributed systems spread across several regions and data centers.
• Write clean, scalable, reusable code and enforce sound architecture and process, including code reviews and unit tests.
• Improve the SRE practice by turning operational needs into requirements for software tooling.
• Mentor colleagues and encourage knowledge sharing across voice AI engineering disciplines.

Requirements

• 12+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Hands-on experience building distributed voice AI systems at large operational scale.
• 4+ years integrating LLMs into applications, not training them.
• 4+ years developing in Python, Golang, Java or similar languages.
• 2+ years building agents through prompt engineering and LLM-based experiences.
• Experience running highly available distributed workloads on Kubernetes using a DevOps approach.
• Experience building compliance and security software in regulated environments (an asset).
• Critical thinking about AI in work processes, decision-making or problem-solving, such as using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or assessing AI's impact on the function or industry.
• Hands-on work with AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor or Windsurf.

Conditions

For roles in this location, base pay ranges from $181,200 to $317,100, plus equity where applicable, variable or incentive pay, and benefits.

Sales roles generally include an On Target Earnings incentive structure.

The base pay shown is a guideline; individual total compensation depends on qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.

Pay depends on the geographic location of the role and may change with it.

Work persona is flexible, remote or required in office, assigned based on the nature of the work and work location.

Eligibility for a work persona may be checked by measuring the distance from your primary residence to the closest company office using a third-party service.
