Description

The Performance Computing Power application engineering team works on advanced digital power management products. The role suits someone who wants to work on hard technical problems alongside strong engineers, helping the company keep building industry-leading power management ICs.

The job has a high level of impact on both the technical and commercial results of the company. You will need to combine solid knowledge of multiphase voltage regulator systems, the company's products and customer systems. You will shape product definition and business planning, and you will work across functional groups through both formal communication and direct contact. Because the products are embedded SoCs, the role calls for technical experience beyond traditional power management.

Responsibilities

  • Turn your understanding of the market into product definitions that lead to adoption.
  • Visit customers around the world to promote products and learn their most important needs.
  • Analyse what you learn to support the marketing business plan, showing how the company's solutions compare technically with competitors.
  • Write detailed technical Product Requirements Documents that design specifications are built from.
  • Work with design engineering to resolve conflicts between requirements, capabilities and business expectations.
  • Take part in FPGA-based prototyping to confirm key features and functions will meet expectations.
  • Work with design and other staff to find solutions when targets are missed.
  • Guide colleagues writing Applications Validation Plans, using your experience to make sure corner cases are covered.
  • Create valuable IP by finding original solutions to key customer problems.
  • Help marketing analyse the monetary value of intellectual property.
  • Work with key ASIC suppliers to understand their requirements and keep product development aligned.
  • Give in-depth technical support and training that supports the company's commercial growth.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the power management industry.
  • Experience with firmware-enabled products and with powering large application-specific ICs, such as CPUs and GPUs, in data center markets.
  • Experience with multiphase DC/DC converters powering Intel, AMD or SoC systems.
  • Knowledge or experience of mixed-signal integrated circuits and systems.
  • Experience with digitally enabled power management products.
  • Understanding of control loop theory and how it applies to power converters.
  • Proficiency with a full range of lab equipment, including network analysers, oscilloscopes and waveform generators.
  • Experience automating lab testing.

Conditions

The company is an embedded semiconductor provider with more than 21,000 engineers in over 30 countries, working on technology for automotive, industrial, infrastructure and IoT markets.

The company's culture is built on being transparent, agile, global, innovative and entrepreneurial.

The company is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer and does not discriminate on protected grounds.

The role involves dual-use technology subject to U.S. export controls, so the company may need a U.S. government export license before sharing technology with certain people, and it decides alone whether to apply.

Benefits

  • A competitive benefits package in addition to salary, with details shared during hiring.
