Bank Mendes Gans (BMG) is a specialised wholesale bank and wholly owned subsidiary of the company Group. It provides cash management, liquidity management, and transaction banking to multinational corporations worldwide, combining financial expertise with technology to help them optimise working capital, centralise treasury, and manage complex international cash flows.

BMG's clients are large multinationals, international corporate groups, and global enterprises across many industries. Its services include cash pooling, in-house banking, intercompany netting, domestic and international payments, virtual accounts, liquidity optimisation, financial messaging, and cash visibility, all built on the company's global banking network and technology platforms.

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will be a key contributor in a self-sufficient, multidisciplinary squad that designs, builds, runs, and improves BMG's global treasury and transaction banking platforms. You will work with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders to turn complex treasury requirements into scalable, secure, and resilient solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain business-critical frontend and backend applications.
• Build modern APIs, integration services, and user-facing features for BMG's liquidity and information management solutions.
• Take part in architecture discussions and contribute to technical design decisions.
• Build software that is secure, maintainable, scalable, and resilient by design.
• Raise code quality through code reviews, automated testing, refactoring, and sound engineering practices.
• Own your services across their full lifecycle, from development to production.
• Monitor application health, investigate incidents, troubleshoot production issues, and lead root cause analysis.
• Improve observability, alerting, reliability, and operational resilience of your services.
• Join on-call and production support rotations when required.
• Cut operational overhead through automation and self-healing.
• Use AI-assisted engineering tools for development, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and knowledge discovery, and apply critical judgment to their output.
• Help adopt AI responsibly, in line with the company security, privacy, and governance requirements.
• Find repetitive work to automate and improve team productivity through AI-enabled workflows and modern tooling.
• Ensure adherence to technology governance, risk management, security, DORA, resilience, and compliance requirements.
• Strengthen engineering controls for security, operational risk, resiliency, disaster recovery, and service continuity.
• Keep teams audit-ready, with proper documentation and evidence of compliance.
• Work with business stakeholders to understand customer journeys and treasury processes.
• Share knowledge, mentor less experienced engineers, and help build a strong engineering culture.
• Take an active part in squad ceremonies, technical communities, and cross-team initiatives.
• Be a team player who is honest and open and helps create mutual trust, accountability, and transparency.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of software engineering experience in a JVM language and its technology stack.
• Hands-on experience with Java 21, Spring Boot 4.x, the Spring Framework suite, JPA/Hibernate, and REST, gRPC, or similar APIs.
• Solid UI skills in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, accessibility, and security, with a UI framework such as Lit-Html, Angular, React, Vue, or Svelte (Lit-Html preferred).
• Strong knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and middleware such as JMS and Kafka.
• Good knowledge of relational databases (MS SQL Server or Oracle) and ability to tune database models and data-intensive operations.
• Write clean, maintainable code.
• Good knowledge of source control, CI/CD, and documentation tools (Azure DevOps, Git, Maven, Confluence), and able to define CI/CD pipelines and handle DevOps tasks across the development lifecycle.
• Test your code with JUnit, Mockito, or BDD frameworks such as JGiven, Cucumber, or Karate.
• Knowledge of Playwright for web testing and automation.
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, with OpenShift as the orchestration platform.
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as HTTP/1.1 and HTTP/2, messaging, and RPC.
• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and ability to design systems with it.
• Familiarity with architecture patterns such as monolith versus microservices.
• Strong analytical skills, proactivity, and ability to work in cross-border international teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills.
• Independent thinker who makes sound decisions and keeps a close eye on quality.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Nice to have: performance testing with JMeter or Gatling.
• Nice to have: exposing meaningful metrics for monitoring and alerting, and profiling applications to understand them.
• Nice to have: familiarity with the Elastic stack and querying logs.
• Nice to have: experience or interest in IT security concepts.
• Nice to have: experience with other JVM languages or other languages such as Kotlin.
• Nice to have: English at advanced level.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree with a strong analytical background in Computer Science, Cybernetics, Software Engineering, Financial Engineering, or an equivalent field.
