Principal Software Engineer, Growth

Description

The company builds enterprise software for automation and is a fast-moving growth company.

Millions of people first meet the product through a sign-up page, a template or a first automation. This role owns what happens after that first contact.

Your work is to find out why people adopt, keep using or drop the products, then build and ship the changes that improve those numbers.

This is an engineering role first. You will write production code across the whole platform, from the first landing page to the point where someone publishes their first automation. You will also make the product calls yourself: choosing the problem, setting what success looks like and proving it with data.

You will be a founding engineer on a high-visibility team, working directly with senior engineering and product leaders. You will act as a mini CTO for your own ideas, building on the newest parts of the agentic automation platform and changing how people discover and adopt it. Your results will show up quickly in the company-wide numbers.

Responsibilities

• Help define the growth metrics the team owns, from sign-up and trial activation through to upgrade.
• Study product telemetry and public signals such as community forums, social media and video comments to find where users get stuck and why.
• Turn each finding into a testable hypothesis, then build, ship and A/B test the fix yourself.
• Work in any part of the codebase a fix requires instead of passing it to another team.
• Use AI coding agents as your team to take ideas from concept to production quickly.
• Explain each experiment to engineering, product, design and leadership: the reason for it, what success meant and what you learned.

Requirements

• Principal-level engineering experience, with recent hands-on work shipping full-stack production code in TypeScript, React and backend services, or similar.
• You build with AI: you use coding agents every day and can describe your workflow in detail.
• A track record in growth, activation or funnel work at a product-led company, with metrics you personally moved.
• Strong product sense: you find the problem, propose the solution and decide how to measure it without waiting for a spec.
• You move fast with a small footprint and have delivered real results without a large team behind you.
• Clear written and spoken communication, including making a case to senior leaders.
• Growth experience at an enterprise product-led company where self-serve users become business customers.
• Experience optimizing for AI agents as users, such as agent-friendly docs, APIs and discovery.
• A public presence through talks, posts, open source or content that developers actually read.
• Familiarity with automation, workflow or developer-platform products.
• You do not need to meet every item above to apply. Experience comes in many forms, and passion cannot be taught.
