Description

The company is an embedded semiconductor solution provider with over 21,000 engineers and problem solvers in more than 30 countries, working on technology for automotive, industrial, infrastructure, and IoT markets.

The role sets the technical direction for AI and machine learning across embedded and edge computing products. You act as the technical authority, linking algorithms, sensor analytics, edge computing, and semiconductor technology.

You work with product groups, system architects, software teams, and strategic customers to build AI-enabled solutions for several market segments, and you help shape the company's AI strategy and the spread of edge intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own AI and ML architectures for embedded systems, edge computing, cloud-connected systems, and intelligent sensor solutions.
  • Turn customer problems, market opportunities, and technology trends into AI solution architectures and technology roadmaps.
  • Lead the development of reusable AI frameworks, software architectures, inference pipelines, model deployment methods, and reference implementations.
  • Lead the evaluation and adoption of machine learning, deep learning, foundation model, and agentic AI technologies.
  • Define architectures for sensor intelligence, signal processing, computer vision, anomaly detection, predictive analytics, sensor fusion, autonomous decision making, and multimodal AI systems.
  • Decide how work is split between MCUs, MPUs, AI accelerators, NPUs, DSPs, FPGAs, and cloud resources.
  • Define deployment strategies for AI workloads on resource-constrained embedded platforms.
  • Tune AI models for accuracy, latency, memory footprint, power consumption, and cost.
  • Work closely with product groups, software teams, system architects, and research partners to add AI capabilities to future solutions.
  • Support strategic customers as a trusted advisor on AI architecture and deployment.
  • Track AI and ML research and find chances for product differentiation and innovation.
  • Contribute to AI reference architectures, technical papers, application notes, patents, and ecosystem initiatives.
  • Mentor and lead engineering teams across the organization.

Requirements

  • A Master's or Ph.D. in computer science, applied mathematics, artificial intelligence, electrical engineering, physics, data science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years in AI/ML, advanced analytics, signal processing, computer vision, or intelligent embedded systems.
  • A proven record in a role such as AI Architect, Principal AI Engineer, Chief Architect, AI Research Lead, or an equivalent technical leadership position.
  • Proven expertise in machine learning, deep learning, statistical modeling, signal processing, computer vision, sensor analytics, data fusion, pattern recognition, predictive analytics, time-series analysis, explainable AI, and edge AI.
  • Strong hands-on experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, ML model optimization, data pipelines, and AI deployment frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of embedded systems, edge computing platforms, heterogeneous compute architectures, MCUs, MPUs, NPUs, DSPs, AI accelerators, and performance, power, and memory optimization.
  • Additional (not required): a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, machine learning, signal processing, computer vision, or a related discipline.
  • Additional (not required): patented AI technologies or algorithms.
  • Additional (not required): publications in AI, machine learning, signal processing, or computer vision.
  • Additional (not required): experience with foundation models, multimodal AI, and agentic AI systems.
  • Additional (not required): experience with sensor analytics and anomaly detection.
  • Additional (not required): experience deploying embedded AI.
  • Additional (not required): familiarity with semiconductor architectures and AI acceleration technologies.
  • Additional (not required): industry experience in areas such as industrial automation, automotive, healthcare, robotics, aerospace, IoT, or consumer electronics.

Conditions

The company deals with dual-use technology under U.S. export control rules, so a U.S. government export license may be needed before technology is released to certain people. Whether to apply for one is the company's sole decision.

The company is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer and does not discriminate on protected grounds.

Benefits

  • A competitive benefits package in addition to salary. Details are shared during the hiring process.
