Senior Solutions Engineer, Injection Molding

Description

The company runs a digital marketplace that connects people with product ideas to manufacturers who can make them, and gives manufacturers tools to grow their business and gives enterprise buyers access to global manufacturing capacity.

This role is a technical advisor to prospects and customers. You combine hands-on process knowledge with business judgment to recommend solutions to real manufacturing problems, and you work alongside the Sales team as the technical voice in customer meetings.

Responsibilities

• Run discovery conversations with Sales to find out what customers need, both technically and commercially, and match those needs to the company's solutions.
• Act as the link between the molding teams and the customer.
• Advise prospects and customers on where the company's technology fits and help build the business case.
• Show the company's capabilities, including its software quoting platform, in a way that works for both engineers and executives.
• Work with product, sales, quoting and engineering teams, passing customer insight back into the business and contributing to case studies and marketing materials.
• Speak for the company as an industry thought leader at events, webinars and within the injection molding community.
• Act as the internal expert on injection molding and related processes, so colleagues can discuss tooling, mold design and process capability with customers.
• Manage and oversee complex opportunities, including their project management.

Requirements

• Hands-on manufacturing experience in injection molding, with compression molding, overmolding and insert molding; floor-level experience is strongly preferred.
• Comfortable discussing details with a mold designer and presenting to executives, with clear written and verbal communication.
• Listen first and look past the stated request to the real problem, then explain it in both technical and business terms.
• Ask why before proposing a solution.
• Experience preparing and presenting technical solutions in business proposals.
• Able to manage several long-term projects with little oversight in a fast-moving startup.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a knack for building relationships.
• Engineering degree, preferably in mechanical or plastics engineering, or another related technical degree.
• 5-7+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing or a technical field.
• Proven project management and presentation skills.
• CAD and technical drawing experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in some of the following: new product development, materials science, plastics engineering, GD&T, mold design, ISO certifications, PPAP and inspection.
• Fluent, masterful English.
• Willing to travel up to 20%.

Conditions

Hybrid role.

Estimated base salary for new hires is $101,000-$150,000 per year, plus commission. Final pay depends on job-related skills, relevant experience and location.
