Staff Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

Description

The company runs a digital marketplace that connects buyers, including teams at Fortune 1000 companies, with manufacturers and gives those manufacturers tools to grow their business.

The company is hiring a Staff Site Reliability Engineer for its SRE organization. This is a senior individual contributor role that sets technical direction for the reliability and performance of infrastructure and software systems, and that builds highly reliable, scalable infrastructure so the technology organization can ship features to customers quickly and safely at scale.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the hardest cross-cutting technical problems and see them through, keeping them aligned with company goals.
• Define the long-term technical roadmap and strategy for core SRE platforms and services.
• Architect and scope major engineering initiatives, and drive them to delivery while weighing effort, risk, and long-term business impact.
• Set the bar for clean, efficient, well-documented code, with a focus on improving core systems and features.
• Communicate progress, blockers, and results clearly to both technical and executive stakeholders across teams.
• Mentor engineers across the organization and lead company-wide adoption of best practices in operational excellence, observability, and infrastructure security.
• Show accountability, curiosity, and a habit of continuous improvement in your work.
• Build, configure, and maintain the platforms that deployed software runs on, including AWS accounts and networking, Kubernetes clusters, and similar systems, with a focus on architecture and scaling.
• Build, configure, and maintain observability and monitoring tools such as Coralogix and Sentry, including defining SLOs and SLIs.
• Build, configure, and maintain CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions runners and ArgoCD.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of professional experience in infrastructure management or backend software development, ideally in a fast-paced, product-driven setting.
• Deep technical skill in at least one of Python, JavaScript, or Unix shell.
• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS, including architecting, deploying, monitoring, and scaling production workloads across multiple accounts and regions.
• Deep expertise with Terraform, Kubernetes, advanced CI/CD pipelines, and Docker/containerization best practices.
• A track record of leading technical projects with significant cross-functional impact.
• Comfortable in an operational environment, including serving as the escalation point for complex issues outside the on-call schedule.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to work with both technical and executive stakeholders.

Conditions

Hybrid work model.

The estimated base salary for new hires is $165,000 to $190,000 per year, plus bonus. The final figure depends on job-related skills, relevant experience, and location.
