Senior Software Test Engineer - Test Automation

The team is hiring a Senior Software Test Engineer for an agile team that builds and validates FactoryTalk Optix, an industrial visualization and HMI platform. Customers use the platform to design, deploy, and maintain applications in manufacturing settings.

You will help protect product quality by writing and running manual and automated tests for new and existing features. You will work with product owners, developers, and other test engineers to clarify requirements, check features, log defects, and support regression and release testing. The role focuses on building strong test practices and learning the product and industrial automation field.

Responsibilities

• Write, maintain, and run manual and automated tests for FactoryTalk Optix features.
• Check design-time and runtime workflows so customers get a dependable experience.
• Plan, estimate, and run tests, and triage defects as part of an Agile team.
• Reproduce defects and record them with clear titles, descriptions, steps, and supporting details in tracking tools.
• Work with developers, product owners, and other testers to understand requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Support regression, release, and exploratory testing.
• Help maintain test documentation and quality procedures, and improve test practices over time.
• Use JIRA, QTest, Confluence, GitHub, and Jenkins for testing and quality tracking.
• Build knowledge of FT Optix functionality and industrial automation concepts over time.
• Work effectively with teams spread across different locations.

Requirements

• Essentials: a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Essentials: legal authorization to work in the US.
• Preferred: typically at least 4 years of experience in software testing, software development, test automation, or a related technical role.
• Preferred: experience writing, running, and documenting manual or automated test cases.
• Preferred: experience building or maintaining automated tests in Python, C, or similar languages.
• Preferred: experience with the Squish and Selenium test frameworks.
• Preferred: experience creating or updating GitHub Actions.
• Preferred: familiarity with Linux.
• Preferred: experience with C scripting.
• Preferred: familiarity with test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence, or QTest.
• Preferred: exposure to performance, reliability, longevity, or regression testing.
• Preferred: experience with industrial automation, HMI software, PLCs, and protocols such as CIP or OP-CUA.

Conditions

Hybrid setup: you are expected to work at a company location on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, unless a business obligation keeps you elsewhere.
