Description

The team is the Future Capabilities Simulation group in Germany, based in Manching, a market town about an hour north of Munich with leisure and cultural options and easy access to larger cities nearby.

The work is high-autonomy R&D that takes early concepts to working, high-fidelity, distributed real-time applications, pushing past typical R&D into Next-Gen capabilities that could change how training and engineering environments work.

The role is a full-stack engineering position, covering everything from low-level C++ physics models to cloud-native deployment and distributed network protocols.

The position is permanent, at Professional experience level, in the Testing job family. It is also open to reduced weekly hours with an adjusted scope of tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture of next-generation software components, taking them from proof of concept to scalable, production-ready simulation frameworks.
  • Write complex, high-performance simulation models in C++ and the software around them.
  • Design and build the communication layers for distributed real-time applications, keeping data exchange low-latency across complex networks.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and use containers and virtual machines so software deploys reliably across different hardware.
  • Create developer tools such as code generators and automated testing frameworks that speed up the R&D cycle.
  • Take part in the whole lifecycle, from requirements through integration and acceptance testing, using the company's PMT processes and agile methods.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • At least 5+ years of proven professional industry experience in complex software environments, focused on simulation or real-time systems.
  • Expert-level modern C++ (C++17/20), including memory management and real-time constraints.
  • Proficiency in Python for automation, data analysis, and tool development.
  • Qt/QML or Go is a plus.
  • You can design modular, extensible, and maintainable software architectures.
  • A solid understanding of networking protocols used in distributed real-time systems.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or virtual machines for managing simulation environments.
  • Experience building and running CI/CD pipelines, such as GitLab CI or Jenkins.
  • Expert use of Git, and experience working in distributed teams with tools like Jira and Confluence.
  • A test-first mindset, with experience in unit, integration, Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.
  • A proactive attitude is an absolute must.
  • Fluent English is required; German and/or Spanish is a plus.

Conditions

Based in Manching, Germany.

Permanent contract with an option for reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.

The standard week is 35 hours, with flextime, mobile working, part-time options, job sharing, and sabbaticals available.

Candidates should be aware of compliance risks and commit to acting with integrity.

The company welcomes applications from all backgrounds and will never ask for payment during recruitment.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay plus additional benefits such as company pension schemes, mobility offers like bike leasing, and corporate discounts with partner companies under current guidelines.
  • 30 days of annual leave under the collective agreement.
  • Strong professional development and international, group-wide career paths.
  • On-site company doctor, health programs including sports courses and preventive care, a canteen and cafeteria, and childcare at selected locations.
  • A diverse workplace with more than 140 nationalities.
  • Candidates who do not match 100% of the profile are still encouraged to apply, as the company offers customized development solutions.
