Splunk Software Engineer

Description

The company is hiring a Splunk Software Engineer for its team in Fort Meade, MD, on a full-time basis.

The role blends software engineering and DevOps work to build applications and integrations on the Splunk platform and its APIs.

You will work with technical colleagues and stakeholders to build scalable, data-driven tools that support national security work.

The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph to start.

Responsibilities

• Build, extend, and upkeep applications, APIs, scripts, and services that connect to Splunk and related tools.
• Write new features and improvements, and track down and fix software defects.
• Create and manage DevOps automation, configuration files, and deployment workflows.
• Maintain source code repositories in Git.
• Route, transform, and enrich data arriving from several sources to meet operational needs.
• Work with data providers and data consumers to keep data integration and delivery effective.
• Look into and resolve escalated customer problems and technical support requests.
• Help improve system reliability and performance through ongoing refinement work.

Requirements

• Required: an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Required: experience building and integrating APIs.
• Required: proficiency in Python and JavaScript.
• Required: experience with Git and Jira.
• Required: a current Splunk Accredited Core Implementation Certification.
• Required: one of the following education and experience combinations: 7+ years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma or GED; 5+ years of relevant experience with an Associate's degree; 3+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 1+ year of relevant experience with a Master's degree.
• Desired: experience with at least four of the following: Regular Expressions (RegEx); RESTful services and integrations; Splunk and/or Elasticsearch; CI/CD pipelines and automation; monitoring tools such as Nagios or Elastic Beats; Apache NiFi; React (Angular experience also considered); DevOps technologies including Ansible, Salt, or Docker; Cribl.

Conditions

Final salary depends on factors such as geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, prior relevant experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.

The proposed salary range is $113,200 to $237,800.

The role involves no travel.
