Description

The company runs an AI-driven product network that helps governments and businesses make global trade more resilient and secure without slowing it down.

The engineering team builds that platform. It is driven by AI, handles a very large volume of data and serves a varied customer base, so the system is complex and stretches engineers in many directions.

Good engineering here means adoption, not just releases. Start from the customer's workflow, treat each release as a hypothesis to test, use AI as a core building block, and own the product from the first customer conversation to telemetry 6 months after launch.

As a senior engineer you will do this work and lead others who do it. You will work with product and design, talk to users, judge where the real pain sits, and guide a small team to ship products customers adopt. Your results are measured in customer outcomes rather than commit counts.

Responsibilities

  • Spend time with customers in their daily work, notice where they get stuck, and turn what you learn into product bets the team will commit to.
  • Work with product to decide what to build, not only how. Frame customer value as hypotheses, design the smallest experiment that can test them, and learn quickly. Challenge briefs that lack evidence.
  • Take new product areas from 0 to 1: pitch, prototype, ship, and drive adoption with real users.
  • Build AI-native by default. LLMs, agents, evals, retrieval and current AI tooling are core parts of your stack. Decide where AI changes the product and where it does not.
  • Own outcomes end to end, from the first customer conversation to telemetry 6 months later, including the architecture and instrumentation that make that data useful.
  • Set the technical standard for the team by reviewing designs and code for quality, simplicity and customer impact. Reject work that cannot be tied to a customer outcome.
  • Coach engineers in customer-centred, hypothesis-driven development: talking to users, running experiments, and judging a feature done by how people use it, not by closing the ticket.
  • Make technical decisions that favour shipping. Choose practical, iterative designs that reach customers quickly, then evolve them as you learn.

Requirements

  • You have deployed production code and services to cloud environments.
  • You have shipped incremental releases from proof of concept through MVP to production.
  • You work on your own initiative and have tackled large, complex problems.
  • You care about engineering excellence, clean code and sharing knowledge.
  • You communicate clearly in writing and speaking.
  • You have led other engineers through complex projects.
  • You have used Python machine learning toolsets such as Numpy, Pandas and Dedupe.
  • You have worked with container technology such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • The team works in Python and PySpark, and uses Docker, Git, Kubernetes, Swagger/OpenAPI, AWS/Azure, MLFlow and Celery.
  • The team stores data in Databricks and Delta Lakes.
