Description

The company has spent more than 25 years in computer graphics, PC gaming and accelerated computing, and is now applying AI to define the next era of computing, where its GPUs serve as the brains of computers, robots and self-driving cars.

This senior role centres on algorithms for placement, global routing, floorplanning and physical design optimization. Your work will span computational geometry, placement, graph optimization and visualization.

The tools you build will shape the company's ability to bring next-generation architecture to market. You will help determine the physical layout, speed and efficiency of some of the most advanced AI chips, and your algorithms will shape the hardware itself, not just run on it.

The role is hybrid and the posting is for an existing vacancy.

Responsibilities

  • Build, improve, tune and roll out new tools for chip-level placement, reshaping and routing optimization.
  • Design new algorithms for computational geometry, placement and fast routing that arrange the blocks on a chip efficiently.
  • Create and apply machine learning methods that make design space exploration more efficient.
  • Extend existing GUIs to give designers better insight, debugging and visualization.
  • The team owns the full cycle: spotting new optimization opportunities, building solutions, and working directly with design teams to put them into practice. The work goes well beyond typical CAD or EDA roles, though much of the code is C++.

Requirements

  • A BS, MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Strength in both CAD software and VLSI hardware design.
  • 6+ years of C++ software development experience.
  • Solid grasp of computational geometry, placement, routing and graph theory.
  • Familiarity with design implementation tools such as ICC2 and Innovus.
  • Expertise in developing algorithms for physical design, analysis and visualization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Conditions

Applications will be accepted at least until November 3, 2026.

The company uses AI tools in its recruiting process.

The company is committed to an inclusive workplace and is an equal opportunity employer that does not discriminate on protected characteristics.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package, with details at the company's site.
  • Base salary is set by location, experience and other objective job-related factors, within a range of 168,000 USD to 264,500 USD.
