Description

The role is a Senior Software Engineer position based in Bentonville, AR 72716.

The posting covers solution design, requirements analysis, coding, testing and troubleshooting of software components and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design solutions, including software architecture, distributed systems, scalability, design patterns, disaster recovery, tech stacks, minimum viable products, non-functional requirements and telemetry.
  • Help make processes and applications work together for specific components or modules, and weigh trade-offs against business requirements.
  • Help turn high-level designs into detailed designs with mock screens, pseudocode and functional logic for specific modules.
  • Analyse requirements and scope, including traceability matrices, risk, cost, business objectives and user stories, and classify each requirement as functional or non-functional, derived, imposed or emergent.
  • Find gaps between customer or business expectations and existing products, including per iteration in agile work, and flag solution risks to stakeholders early with recommended fixes.
  • Help write user stories for components, applications and complex features in agile teams.
  • Review coding standards, languages, frameworks, tools and platforms, plus quality, safety and security standards such as PCI, and use emerging tools, telemetry included, to keep code minimal while meeting maintainability, availability and scalability needs.
  • Help choose languages, development standards and tools for coding and configuration.
  • Write scripts that automate repetitive tasks in CI/CD, testing and other processes where applicable.
  • Build telemetry features independently when needed.
  • Make sure security policies are applied in code development and configuration.
  • Plan and run testing: write test cases, set objectives and strategy, choose test types and tools such as Selenium, Jira and Eggplant, set up test environments, and map customer requirements to test objectives.
  • Run the right test types to find errors and defects across the whole component, then track and analyse them and run regression tests after every change.
  • Review defects from past projects to prevent repeats.
  • Find and fix performance and availability bottlenecks in applications.
  • Keep projects on track against approved milestones and timelines.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering or a related field, plus 3 years of software engineering or related experience.
  • Hands-on experience with the React Native framework, including components, APIs and lifecycle methods.
  • Strong JavaScript skills, including ES6+, asynchronous programming and functional concepts.
  • Experience building for iOS and Android, including development environments, SDKs and platform capabilities.
  • Experience managing application state with Redux.
  • Experience integrating RESTful APIs to fetch and change data.
  • Experience debugging React Native apps with React Native Debugger and writing unit tests with Jest.
  • Experience optimising React Native performance, including render times, memory use and network requests.
  • Experience using Git for team development and code management.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript fundamentals, asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture and the Node.js runtime.
  • Experience building error handling and resilience into systems to handle failures and keep them highly available.
  • Knowledge of security practices for Node.js, including input validation, authentication, authorization and data encryption.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and logging frameworks to track performance, find issues and troubleshoot errors.
  • Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines that automate building, testing and deploying Node.js applications.
  • The employer will accept any amount of experience with these skills.
