Senior Software Engineer – Storage

Description

The team builds software for a company that provides edge-to-cloud technology, helping customers connect, protect and analyze their data and applications across edge and cloud environments.

The role covers designing, building, troubleshooting and debugging software for product enhancements and new products. Work includes operating systems, compilers, networking software, utilities, databases and internet-related tools, and may involve checking hardware compatibility or shaping hardware design.

Responsibilities

• Lead several project teams of software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners across all stages of complex product and platform work, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing and integration.
• Build and grow working relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on software systems design and development.
• Assess designs and project work against systems design and development guidelines and standards, and give concrete feedback that raises product quality and lowers the risk of failure.
• Bring deep domain expertise and overall software systems leadership to cross-organization projects, programs and activities.
• Push the adoption of new technologies into projects within the software systems design organization.
• Mentor and guide less experienced colleagues.

Requirements

• A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems or an equivalent field.
• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Strong systems programming skills in C and C++ for enterprise-class software.
• Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms and multi-threaded programming.
• Ability to debug problems in multi-threaded and clustered environments.
• In-depth knowledge of operating system internals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience designing the overall architecture of software systems for products and solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and your local language, including presenting product architectures and design proposals and negotiating options with senior management.
• Prior experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
• Data paths for high-performance storage systems.
• Distributed file systems, storage systems and/or high-availability clusters.
• Memory management, performance tuning and/or performance modeling.

Conditions

This is a hybrid role, with an average of 2 days per week required in a company office.

Base salary ranges are USD 136,500 to 260,500 in Massachusetts and USD 120,500 to 276,500 in North Carolina. Actual offers may fall outside these ranges depending on location, experience, education, training and skill level. Variable incentives may also be offered on top of base salary.
