Description

The company is a US drone maker and a leader in autonomous flight, a technology it sees as central to the future of drones and aerial mobility.

Its team mixes AI research, hardware and software product work, operations, and a strong focus on customers, serving users from utility inspectors to first responders and soldiers in the field.

The Streaming team builds and runs the systems that carry live video, telemetry, and control data between the company's drones and its cloud platform.

The systems serve customers and internal teams on growing fleets, including devices that connect over weak or unstable networks.

The team works with device, networking, cloud infrastructure, security, and product groups to keep real-time communication dependable when it counts most.

Responsibilities

  • Build the cloud infrastructure for the real-time streaming platform, working across Kubernetes, networking, deployment tooling, and production services.
  • Own infrastructure projects from design through deployment and day-to-day running, and help the platform scale with customer demand.
  • Build and improve Kubernetes infrastructure for real-time services, helping with capacity planning and making compute and bandwidth use more efficient as concurrent streams grow.
  • Improve how services are deployed, scaled, and recovered so active streams are disturbed as little as possible.
  • Build observability and help set service-level objectives for stream availability, connection success, and latency. Investigate failures across application code, Linux networking, and cloud infrastructure to stop them from coming back.
  • Work with device, networking, and product engineers to find problems along the path from device to cloud and to enable new real-time features.
  • Work with security engineers to strengthen the practices and controls that protect customer data, drones, and streaming services.
  • Make changes to application code when that is the best way to fix an underlying problem.

Requirements

  • Have 5+ years in SRE, platform engineering, DevOps, or a similar infrastructure role, with a record of delivering projects on your own from design to production and working well across teams.
  • Have strong experience running and automating production Kubernetes clusters, with familiarity with AWS and continuous deployment systems, including safe rollout and rollback approaches.
  • Have run distributed systems with long-lived connections, latency-sensitive traffic, or strict availability needs, and be comfortable fixing root causes in application code. Go preferred.
  • Have a solid grasp of cloud networking, security, storage, and resilient application design, with experience tracking down connectivity and performance problems across application, container, and cloud networking layers.
  • Have built observability and used production metrics, logs, traces, and profiling to investigate failures.
  • Bonus: Experience running real-time video, communications, or device connectivity platforms, including drones or highly automated physical hardware.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with WebRTC, RTP/RTCP, ICE/STUN/TURN, or platforms such as LiveKit.
  • Bonus: Experience diagnosing connectivity and performance issues in real-time streaming systems, including packet loss, jitter, latency, and NAT or firewall traversal.
  • Bonus: Experience scaling connection-oriented services, including connection draining and graceful shutdown.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with supporting both SaaS and self-hosted applications.
