Senior Software Engineer

Description

This senior engineering role involves designing, building and maintaining the core infrastructure behind the company's services.

The company works across land, sea, air, space and cyberspace, including data and intelligence systems, maritime navigation and control, and command and control systems for the UK and NATO.

Responsibilities

• Write code yourself, help improve the codebase and review colleagues' code.
• Design software features that deliver the product roadmap, and explain the reasons behind your design choices.
• Help split large pieces of work into clear tasks the team can deliver in an agile way.
• Help set up and maintain continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
• Demonstrate development work to internal and external customers.
• Lead by example and guide your team through technical and delivery challenges so the work meets customer requirements.

Requirements

• Experience as a software engineer in either backend or frontend development.
• Backend: the wider ecosystem of Java Spring Boot, Maven and Python.
• Frontend: the wider ecosystem of JS/TS, React and Npm.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, containerisation, deployment tools and cloud platforms such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker and AWS.
• An understanding of database technologies such as SQL, Elasticsearch or MongoDB.
• Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Ideally, some experience of agile ways of working.
• You must be able to obtain and keep the highest UK Government security clearance.

Conditions

UK citizenship is required for this role.

You must hold the top UK Government security clearance right now.

Travel is needed for about 10% of your time.

Relocation assistance may be available.
