Senior Engineering Manager - Containers, Kubernetes, and Confidential Computing

Description

The company builds GPUs for AI, high-performance computing and visualization, and this role sits in a small, fast-moving team that looks for new ways to make GPU-accelerated applications simpler to develop, deploy and monitor.

The team builds platform software on open-source container runtimes, Kubernetes, Kata Containers and Confidential Containers, and it wants a manager who can lead people, plan well and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the engineering team that builds platform software for open-source container runtimes, Kubernetes, Kata Containers and Confidential Containers.
• Drive the work of making GPUs first-class resources in Kubernetes, Kata Containers and Confidential Containers.
• Coordinate with engineering groups across the company so your team's software fits cleanly across every layer of the stack.
• Keep your team moving on several parallel tracks as priorities shift.

Requirements

• A BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 12 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 5 years managing high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong engineering management skills, with clear planning and communication.
• A deep understanding of designing and building software, with experience in systems software and distributed systems.
• A solid grasp of container orchestration with Kubernetes and of container technology.
• Working knowledge of systems programming languages such as Rust and Go, and a strong base in data structures and algorithms.
• Hands-on knowledge of the internals of Unix-like kernels such as Linux.
• A strong background in cloud computing and in designing and building distributed software.
• An understanding of performance, security and reliability in complex distributed systems.
• Out-of-the-box thinking that brings new ideas while still delivering on tasks.

Conditions

Base salary is set by location, experience and the pay of people in similar roles, with a range of 272,000 USD to 431,250 USD.
