Description

The role starts remote, with a planned move to a hybrid setup of two days a week in the office in downtown Toronto.

The company is part of Booking Holdings (NASDAQ: BKNG) and has served restaurants for over 25 years. It works with 70,000+ restaurant partners and millions of diners, and builds software that helps restaurants run their teams, guests and revenue while helping diners find and book tables.

The team is part of a global group that includes a portfolio of metasearch brands.

The OT4R iOS app is a complex tool that restaurant hosts, servers, managers and owners use to schedule shifts, manage tables and grow their business. It connects restaurants to a network of over 25 million diners.

You will join engineers, designers and product managers building scalable, high-value features across areas such as inventory management, high-performance data synchronization and user interfaces. The domains are deep, and there is room to grow professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineers, product managers and designers to iterate quickly on requirements and UX/UI designs, weigh scope, explain trade-offs clearly and agree on technical direction.
  • Turn open-ended problems into shipped products by asking sharp questions, proposing a direction and checking assumptions with product and design instead of waiting for a complete spec.
  • Break multi-month initiatives into milestones that each deliver value and lower risk for the next, and own delivery from launch onward.
  • Make quality a priority by helping evolve testing practices, lead architecture and code reviews, and improve CI/CD.
  • Assess user impact and respond promptly to support escalations and incidents.
  • Mentor and guide team members.

Requirements

  • You have shipped production-quality native iOS apps and features and are proficient in Swift.
  • You have deep experience in at least two of: SwiftUI, Async/Await, Combine, CoreData, Networking, Instruments, SOLID, MVVM, FRP.
  • You debug well with the standard iOS toolchain, including Instruments, breakpoints and the LLDB console. You test your work thoroughly against requirements and designs, and you write and use automated tests properly.
  • You write readable, maintainable code and build useful abstractions and reusable components. You use AI-native development tools and take ownership of their output, checking accuracy and holding it to a high standard.
  • You communicate clearly, especially when explaining technical trade-offs between solutions. You give and accept feedback through code review.
  • Optional: You have built and maintained a B2B application that people rely on daily, with complex business logic, dense information and demanding state management.
  • Optional: You have managed releases, including branching strategy, release trains, feature flags, phased rollouts, App Store submission, and crash and regression triage.
  • Optional: You have strengthened core app layers such as networking, persistence and data sync, design systems, module boundaries and build and test tooling alongside feature work, and understand how that platform work speeds up product delivery.
  • This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Conditions

Remote to start, moving to two days a week in the downtown Toronto office.

Schedule follows a global workforce across several time zones. Most work falls in standard business hours, but you may need to handle calls, Slack messages or emails outside them to work with international colleagues, restaurant partners or urgent issues. Local laws are always respected.

Equal opportunity: the company values a workplace where everyone can belong and thrive. Accommodation requests during hiring or on the job go to your recruiter.

Pay: the base salary falls within a range set by market benchmarks, location and years of experience sought. The role is eligible for an annual bonus and equity grant.

Health benefits, flexible spending account, retirement benefits, life insurance, and paid time off including PTO, paid sick leave, medical leave, bereavement leave, floating holidays and paid holidays, plus parental leave.

Benefits

  • Work from almost anywhere for up to 20 days a year.
  • Mental health support: company-paid therapy sessions through SpringHealth and a company-paid Headspace subscription.
  • A company-wide week off each year, so the whole team can recharge and return to a manageable workload.
  • Paid parental leave, generous paid vacation, a paid day off for your birthday and paid volunteer time.
  • Career growth: development dollars, leadership development, thousands of on-demand e-learning courses, travel discounts and employee resource groups.
  • 20 days of paid time off, private health and dental insurance, and life and disability insurance.
