Senior Software Engineer - Fulfillment Core (all genders)

Description

The company handles more than 100 million customer orders a year, and order volumes keep growing.

Fulfillment Core builds and runs the systems at the centre of the company's platform strategy, so that each of the 185+ million yearly orders is delivered on time, efficiently and correctly.

This is a new team in the Inventory domain, building backend services that are central to fulfilment. The work includes centralised inventory capabilities, such as integrations with Third Party Logistics Providers.

The role is based at the Dortmund Tech Hub in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Responsibilities

• Work on projects that shape how inventory is managed across the company.
• Help define the team's product strategy, roadmap and backlog so they match business goals.
• Talk with stakeholders to understand the business context, then help design scalable solutions that fit their needs.
• Own the product lifecycle from discovery through delivery, adjusting priorities as needed, and work closely with engineers on a complex problem space.
• Help build an inclusive, diverse team culture.
• Help create the team's working processes.

Requirements

• You are proficient in a Java-based language such as Kotlin and learn new technologies quickly.
• Knowledge of PHP is a plus but not required.
• You have experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• You use AI coding tools to improve your own work and your team's.
• You keep complex systems running at scale, applying industry best practices for monitoring and alerting.
• You mentor less experienced engineers by involving them in discussions, teaching good practice and sharing what you know.
• You work well in cross-functional teams and can explain complex technical ideas to non-technical colleagues. Building proactive relationships across departments is central to succeeding here.
• You look for ways to make simulations more accurate and efficient, and you propose research initiatives that extend what they can do.

Conditions

Full-time and part-time positions are both open.

The hybrid model allows up to 60% remote work, with flexible working hours.

You can work from abroad for up to 30 working days a year.
