Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack)

This Senior Full Stack Engineer role sits in a team building business-critical applications that must scale, with attention to security, performance and maintainability.

You will work with product owners, architects and engineers and help shape architecture decisions.

The band and level is Manager, 6.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable full-stack applications using current frameworks and cloud platforms.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ship quality software that meets business goals.
• Build and run microservices and API integrations.
• Follow SDLC practice, including CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Improve application speed and apply security good practice.
• Join architecture discussions and help move systems toward the target state.
• Diagnose and fix complex technical faults in production.
• Coach junior engineers and spread engineering standards.
• Take part in Agile delivery work, including planning, estimates and retrospectives.
• Keep up with new technology and bring useful practices into your work.

Requirements

• Extensive commercial full-stack experience in large enterprise settings.
• Skilled in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript and React or a similar framework.
• Strong back-end skills, especially in modern C and ASP.NET.
• Working knowledge of RESTful APIs, GraphQL and WebSockets.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and containerisation using Docker or Kubernetes.
• Familiar with version control and CI/CD tools such as GitLab.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and keeping code quality high.
• Solid relational database skills, such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server.
• Experience working in an agile, cross-functional delivery team.
• Able to work with business analysts and product owners to clarify unclear requirements and resolve problems.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.
• Desired: experience with microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Desired: knowledge of observability tools such as OpenTelemetry or Grafana.
• Desired: familiarity with DevOps and Infrastructure as Code, such as AWS CDK or Terraform.
• Desired: familiarity with messaging technologies such as Kafka or Solace.
• Desired: awareness of security principles and DevSecOps practice.
• Desired: understanding of financial markets or trading systems.
• Desired: contributions to open-source projects.
