Description

The company supplies the Royal Canadian Navy through its In-Service Support programs, covering over 70% of the fleet across Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships, Joint Support Ships and Minor Warships and Auxiliary Vessels. Work spans preventive and corrective maintenance, Integrated Logistics Support, program management, engineering, life-cycle material management and insertion of new capabilities on several naval platforms.

The Requirements Management team is central to the AJISS program. It makes sure contractual, technical and regulatory requirements are captured, traced, verified and controlled across the vessel support lifecycle. The team is being built to give the company enterprise-wide requirements visibility, support achievement of performance incentives (SRVF) and keep compliance documentation ready for audit.

You will be based at a company facility in Canada and work with Government of Canada and Department of National Defence stakeholders, plus engineering and integrated project teams. You will gain hands-on exposure to large naval programs and help shape requirements that affect fleet readiness and operational capability.

The role is hybrid, based in Ottawa.

This position involves direct or indirect access to hardware, software or technical information controlled under the Canadian Export Control List and/or the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be eligible for such access or able to obtain authorization for it.

At senior level, requirements engineers define and keep improving the processes and tools used to produce high-quality requirements. They work closely with engineers, stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand the end user's needs, limits and concept of employment, and to make sure those needs are captured, analyzed, documented and maintained across the system lifecycle. The aim is systems that are fit for purpose, not just technically compliant.

  • Carry out and review requirements decomposition, including coverage and gap analysis.
  • Lead requirements reviews, walkthroughs and sign-off with engineering and customer representatives.
  • Review proposed requirement changes and their impact analysis, and support baseline and change management under configuration management processes.
  • Lead baseline management and change work, including impact analysis and configuration control.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in producing detailed, high-quality requirements and engineering artefacts.
  • Typical assignments include managing requirements for a defined capability area, supporting audits or compliance reviews with traceability evidence, and coordinating requirements updates.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of professional experience designing and integrating complex systems in commercial and/or military domains.
  • At least 6 years of professional experience focused mainly on requirements engineering.
  • University or college degree in engineering or a related discipline.
