Senior Project Manager – Grid Automation

Description

The company supplies equipment, systems and services that carry power from generation to end users, and it is moving the grid toward a more resilient, low-carbon model built on renewables and more automation.

In this senior role you take ownership of complex, high-value projects from the day the contract is handed over until final acceptance, including Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) work. You also coach a team of Project Managers so they deliver profitably and to a high standard.

The role depends on bringing people together, keeping complex work under control and driving results across several workstreams at once.

Responsibilities

• Run full delivery of Grid Automation projects, OWF scope included, tracking schedule, cost, risk and customer relations until the Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC) or Taking Over Certificate (TOC) is issued.
• Answer for the financial results of your portfolio: hold gross margin, forecast sales each month, plan cost recovery and report regularly to senior management.
• Represent the company to customers and internal stakeholders at senior level, keeping them satisfied through clear communication and quick resolution of issues.
• Oversee contracts and suppliers, handling claims and variation orders and working with procurement, manufacturing units and the contract management team.
• Spot, manage and reduce risk by running risk reviews, building action plans and raising commercial opportunities throughout each project.
• Mentor Grid Automation Project Managers on OWF delivery, share lessons learned and help improve project management processes.
• Prepare key performance indicator (KPI) reports for the OWF segment, combine execution summaries and present project status to leadership.

Requirements

• An experienced project leader who performs well under high stakes and with large teams, and who balances delivery with developing people.
• Required:
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, with a formal qualification in this area given the technical complexity of Grid Automation and OWF projects.
• Substantial project management experience in the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) industry.
• Proven background in T&D and Grid Automation, including Protection & Controls.
• A track record of managing complex, multi-workstream projects running in parallel.
• Solid experience leading and motivating cross-functional project teams.
• Fluent English.
• Willingness to travel approximately 15, 20% as project and business needs require.
• Preferred:
• Preferred: experience in multicultural or internationally distributed project teams.
• Preferred: background in Offshore Wind Farm project delivery.
• Preferred: strong commercial judgement and a record of execution-focused leadership.
