Senior Presales Systems Engineer - DC / MD

Description

This is a remote role for a Senior Presales Systems Engineer covering the Maryland territory.

The company sells AI-native, next-generation networking products that help organizations modernize infrastructure, simplify operations, and connect people, devices, and applications securely.

The Systems Engineer will support State, Local Government, and K-12 customers across Maryland in a mostly customer-facing pre-sales role, working alongside Territory Managers to design networking solutions and build trust with buyers.

The ideal person pairs solid networking expertise with consultative and solution-selling ability.

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical adviser to customers from early discovery through the sales cycle.
• Work with Territory Managers to qualify and win new business.
• Design end-to-end networking solutions that meet each customer's business and technical needs.
• Run technical presentations, product demonstrations, workshops, and proofs of concept.
• Write technical proposals, solution architectures, and implementation recommendations.
• Explain the technical strengths and business value of the company's networking products against competing offers.
• Build lasting relationships with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
• Support channel partners and demand-generation activity in the territory.
• Track emerging networking technologies and competitive market trends.
• Maintain a healthy sales pipeline while guiding complex enterprise deals from discovery through deployment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years in infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, or pre-sales supporting enterprise networks.
• Strong skills in customer communication, presentations, and consultative selling.
• Ability to turn complex technical requirements into practical, business-focused solutions.
• Ability to collaborate with customers, partners, sales teams, and executive stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of campus and branch networking, routing and switching, enterprise wireless, network security, network access control (NAC), and cloud-managed networking platforms.
• Experience with solution architecture, technical design, technical demonstrations, and customer proofs of concept.
• Industry certifications such as Aruba, Juniper, Cisco, or equivalent.
• Experience supporting State, Local Government, or Education (SLED) customers.
• Solid understanding of enterprise networking trends and competing technologies.
• Preferred: experience mentoring junior Systems Engineers.

Clients are located in Maryland, and the role covers the Maryland territory.

Expected pay range in the District of Columbia and Maryland is USD 151,500 to 355,000 per year, with the actual offer depending on location, experience, education, training, and skill level.

The range is the combined base and target sales pay at 100% of the sales plan, split 75% base and 25% target sales compensation.
