Senior Manager, Application Engineering

Description

The company is the company, a financial technology platform offering payments, data and financial products in one solution to customers including Meta, Uber, H&M and Microsoft.

The Application Engineering team builds, runs and automates the core collaboration platforms staff use daily: the Atlassian suite, Slack Enterprise Grid, Google Workspace, Zoom and the emerging AI tools that link them, such as Claude, Gemini Enterprise and Rovo.

The team is looking for an engineering leader with experience guiding teams that work on workplace collaboration, tooling or internal platforms, who can turn complex backlogs into clear, high-impact deliverables.

You will lead a team of 11+ engineers, own the platform roadmap and work closely with cross-functional stakeholders who depend on the productivity ecosystem across the company.

Internally, this role is titled Team Lead, Application Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Set the team's short- and medium-term vision, gather requests from across the business, balance them against capacity and openly explain trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Guide projects from scoping and planning through delivery and rollout, with clear milestones, ownership, risk management and progress reporting.
• Coordinate and carry out tool launches, migrations and platform improvements for a global workforce, including change management, communication and training.
• Keep the SaaS ecosystem secure, reliable and scalable, working with Security and Enterprise Access Management on identity, access governance and data protection controls.
• Drive the team's automation and AI roadmap together with the Forward Deployed Engineering team, building agentic workflows that reduce friction for your team and end users.
• Manage SaaS vendor relationships, licensing strategy and contract renewals.
• Mentor, support and grow Enterprise Applications Engineers, set clear goals, give constructive feedback for career progression and lead using the company's framework of Empower, Care, Act and Scale.
• Lead hiring and shape the team's organisation and capabilities as the company grows.
• Set and maintain standards for documentation, operational hygiene and support escalation to keep the platform resilient over time.
• Stay technically involved by taking part in architecture decisions, code reviews and integration designs.

Requirements

• Have a proven record of leading engineering teams that work on internal tooling, enterprise applications or digital workplace platforms.
• Be skilled at managing complex projects: estimating, tracking and shipping several initiatives in parallel while keeping distributed stakeholders informed.
• Have hands-on experience running and scaling enterprise collaboration platforms such as the Atlassian suite, Slack Enterprise Grid, Google Workspace or Zoom.
• Understand the architecture of productivity and enterprise platforms well enough to make sound technical trade-offs and assess engineering solutions.
• Be familiar with building internal AI and LLM-based workflows, with a practical view of deploying them safely and effectively.
• Have a security-first mindset and experience with identity and access management (IAM), data privacy and compliance in a regulated environment.
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with all levels, building alignment among technical teams, non-technical partners and senior leadership, and handling competing priorities constructively.
