Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer

Description

The company is hiring a senior infrastructure operations engineer for its regional IT operations team in Barcelona.

You will handle technical design, build and run work across enterprise IT infrastructure, virtualization, storage and operating systems, keeping systems highly available, applying patches and vulnerability fixes, deploying changes and improving service delivery at both global and regional scale.

Responsibilities

• Keep the SLAs for all supported infrastructure, working incident, service request and change tickets in the ITSM queues.
• Carry out technical design, build and run tasks for enterprise infrastructure, including VMware ESXi virtualization, storage, and Windows Server and RHEL environments.
• Support routine patching, vulnerability assessments and security remediation on all infrastructure assets.
• Support data center hardware from Dell, HPE and Fujitsu, plus enterprise business applications, global contact centers and agile office solutions.
• Use scripting and automation to standardize environments, cut manual work and steadily improve service delivery.
• Analyze and quickly fix technical incidents and complex problems at local, regional and international levels.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Over 5 years working as an infrastructure or systems operations engineer in enterprise environments.
• Strong hands-on skills with VMware ESXi, Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
• Familiarity with enterprise data center hardware from Dell, HPE and Fujitsu, and with storage solutions.
• Working knowledge of Active Directory administration and basic network and switching concepts, including Cisco.
• Practical scripting experience in PowerShell, Bash or Python to standardize and control IT environments.
• Business-level English, written and spoken, with the interpersonal skills to work with international teams.
• Willingness to travel for business when required.
• Preferred: professional certifications in Microsoft, VMware (VCP), Red Hat (RHCE), Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), or IT security or ITIL.
• Nice to have: hands-on experience with infrastructure monitoring and alerting tools and with keeping systems highly reliable and available.
• Nice to have: experience with vulnerability management and cloud security platforms such as Qualys, Skyhigh or similar.
• Nice to have: working knowledge of ITIL service management, DevOps practices and Agile frameworks.
• Nice to have: a record of proposing, designing and rolling out new operational processes and efficiency gains.
