Storage Architect

Description

The company runs and modernises mission-critical technology systems for large organisations.

The role sits in a complex private cloud environment and supports the largest IT programme in the Netherlands, for the Dutch Ministry of Defence.

You will work with a team of architects, specialists and Defence experts.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deliver storage solutions within a complex private cloud environment.
• Define storage architectures that follow Secure by Design principles.
• Translate operational needs and programme requirements into technical designs.
• Design and implement storage solutions in private cloud environments.
• Integrate storage with compute, virtualisation, security, PKI and IAM.
• Develop strategies for cyber resiliency, backup and disaster recovery.
• Write standards, reference architectures and quality criteria.
• Coach domain architects, engineers and implementation teams.
• Identify risks and advise on technology developments.
• Take part in the Design Authority and help decide on architecture choices with major impact.
• Monitor lifecycle management, continuity, availability and scalability of storage services.

Requirements

• You have worked for at least 5 years as a Storage Architect in complex enterprise environments.
• You have experience with large infrastructure or transformation programmes.
• You know architecture methods such as TOGAF.
• You communicate well in both Dutch and English.
• You have managed stakeholders at operational, tactical and strategic levels.
• You combine leadership, an entrepreneurial attitude and a team focus.
• You have extensive experience with NAS, block storage, object storage, backup and recovery, storage virtualisation, cyber resiliency, storage security and lifecycle management.
• You also know Nutanix and virtualisation platforms, cloud storage services on AWS, Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform, automation and Infrastructure as Code such as Ansible, and reference architectures and vendor blueprints from leading storage suppliers.
• You keep up with market developments and turn new technologies into practical solutions for Defence.

Conditions

You hold a Dutch passport.

You are willing to pass a VGB-B security screening.

You are available at a Defence location for at least two days a week.
