Modernization Engineer/FDE

Responsibilities

• Bring your specialist knowledge to a company that manages 50% of the world's MIPS and help drive its modernization work.
• Use your knowledge of legacy systems and cloud architecture to find mainframe applications that are worth modernizing.
• Define, assess and rank modernization roadmaps, weighing cost and risk.
• Design cutting-edge software frameworks, systems and products that can set an industry standard.
• Shape system interfaces and business application prototypes, and find and fix weaknesses in framework design.
• Provide technical leadership to the application development team, run design and code reviews, and keep enterprise-wide application design standards consistent.
• Work with stakeholders to keep the architecture aligned with business requirements and make sure the project meets its goals.
• Write and maintain documentation covering software architecture, application design processes, component integration, testing guidelines and other key elements.

Requirements

• Experience architecting large customer change and transformation projects.
• In-depth knowledge of hardware and software, including connectivity between platforms.
• The Open Group Master Certified Architect certification or an equivalent.
• Hands-on experience in a mainframe environment.
• Experience with mainframe projects that modernize, integrate with, or move off the platform.
• Strong understanding of z/OS, IBM software products and third-party mainframe software.
