Modernization Engineer/FDE

You would join a global group of mainframe modernization specialists who share what they know freely.

Responsibilities

• Use your knowledge of legacy systems and cloud architecture to spot mainframe applications worth modernizing.
• Define, assess, and rank modernization roadmaps by cost and risk.
• Design software frameworks, systems, and products intended to become industry benchmarks.
• Sketch system interfaces and prototype business applications, and find and fix weak points in framework designs.
• Lead the application development team technically, run design and code reviews, and keep enterprise-wide design standards consistent.
• Work with other stakeholders so the architecture fits business requirements and the project reaches its goals.
• Write and maintain documentation covering software architecture, design processes, component integration, testing guidelines, and other key elements.

Requirements

• Experience architecting large customer change and transformation projects.
• Deep knowledge of hardware and software, including how platforms connect.
• Preferred: The Open Group Master Certified Architect certification or an equivalent.
• Preferred: Hands-on work in a mainframe environment.
• Preferred: Experience with Modernize On, Integrate With, and Move Off mainframe projects.
• Preferred: Solid understanding of z/OS, IBM software products, and third-party mainframe software.
