The Forward Deployed Engineer is a hybrid, delivery-focused role for early career engineers who want to work where AI systems meet complex enterprise environments.

It is neither a traditional software engineering job nor a standard consulting role. Success is judged by outcomes and by AI solutions running at production scale, not by experiments.

You start on projects with real impact on systems customers depend on every day.

Responsibilities

• Work inside customer delivery teams to build, prototype and deploy AI-enabled solutions in live production environments.
• Build defined technical components with guidance from senior engineers.
• Learn consulting basics through direct contact with customers.
• Work with current AI development tools, generative and agentic AI architectures, and enterprise cloud platforms.
• Turn technical work into clear value for customers.
• Understand each customer's business problems and shape them into sound, fit-for-purpose solutions, choosing the right result over the quickest one.
• Build and iterate custom AI solutions for customer needs using agentic AI frameworks.
• Own delivery from scoping through to production, working alongside the customer team to ship production-ready solutions that drive adoption and measurable business results.
• Diagnose and improve system performance, scalability and reliability.
• Record what you learn from deployments, document best practices and share insights that improve the company's core platforms and frameworks.
• Keep pace with emerging technologies and changing customer needs through ongoing professional development.
• Help evolve the company's AI platforms through feedback, code contributions and work with product teams.

Requirements

• You can demonstrate real expertise in Python or another modern language such as C, Node.js or TypeScript.
• You know the software delivery lifecycle, use Git and GitHub for version control, and have worked with data engineering tools such as Pandas and Spark.
• You have experience with cloud AI platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google AI, and with distributed computing architectures.
• Preferred: experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Preferred: familiarity with community-driven AI tools and libraries, including Hugging Face and relevant repositories.
• Preferred: deep technical skill in one or two areas, with broad understanding across AI/ML, cloud and consulting.
• Preferred: experience designing, building or integrating multi-agent systems and orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, Agent Framework, AutoGen or CrewAI, including agent protocols and coordination mechanisms.
• Preferred: practical experience deploying retrieval-augmented generation architectures and connecting structured and unstructured knowledge sources to AI solutions.
• Preferred: knowledge of system-level optimization and security practices for scalable AI systems.
• Preferred: ability to turn business requirements into technical solutions and explain technical value to varied audiences, including executives.
• Preferred: willingness to travel and work on customer premises as required.
• Preferred: a degree in computer science, informatics, data science, engineering or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Conditions

The role is hybrid.

The position is governed by the Italian National Collective Bargaining Agreement for Employees of the Metalworking Industry (Contratto Collettivo Nazionale di Lavoro per i dipendenti dell'Industria Metalmeccanica e della Installazione di Impianti), with classification as Impiegato.

A permanent employment contract (contratto a tempo indeterminato) may be offered.

The starting salary at the time of posting is €39.780,00 for a full-time schedule at the company's Italian innovation services entity.

The final offer may vary with geographic tier, job-related skills, education and experience. Part-time pay is adjusted accordingly.
