Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Network Infrastructure

The company builds the financial connectivity layer that lets apps link to users' bank accounts, working with thousands of companies including Venmo, SoFi, several Fortune 500 firms and many of the largest banks. Its network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco, with offices in New York, Seattle, Washington D.C., Raleigh, London and Amsterdam.

This is a senior role on the Network Infrastructure team, which is small and new. The network underpins every product the company ships. You will own large portions of it, planning and leading company-wide changes such as a service mesh upgrade or a cloud network modernization, and delivering them without customer impact. You will also build tooling that helps product engineers move faster, strengthen security and compliance boundaries, and investigate hard failures. You will have real influence over the team's technical direction, and the role has a clear path to Staff-level scope.

Responsibilities

• Lead company-wide network changes, such as service mesh upgrades and gateway migrations, rolled out in stages so customers are unaffected.
• Modernize the cloud network to reduce risk and simplify day-to-day operations.
• Write self-serve tools in Go and Terraform so product engineers can expose, route and secure their own services.
• Define tighter security and compliance boundaries in the network without holding back developers.
• Investigate complex network failures and convert the findings into alerts, dashboards and guardrails.
• Join the on-call rotation, lead incident response for network problems, and drive the fixes that follow.

Requirements

• Experience operating production infrastructure at scale in an infrastructure, SRE or network engineering role.
• Strong grasp of networking basics, including TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, HTTP and load balancing.
• Hands-on work with Kubernetes networking, such as a CNI, service mesh or ingress.
• Experience with cloud networking, ideally on AWS.
• Ability to write code in Go or Python.
• A record of carrying out large production changes safely, with a rollback plan in place.
• Nice to have: production experience with Istio, Envoy or Cilium.
