Senior Full Stack Java Developer

Description

The role sits in the global technology team, where engineers build technical solutions to complex business problems.

The team is in a period of change in OTC derivatives within Markets Technology. You will take part in the full software build, working closely with product teams and users.

You will help grow a strong engineering culture across the global teams.

Responsibilities

• Run feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, and IT planning, and assess technology risk.
• Build and roll out new or revised application systems and programs that meet specific business needs.
• Oversee every stage of development, from analysis and design through construction, testing and rollout, and support business users on applications.
• Apply deep applications development expertise to complex problems, judge business and system processes against industry standards, and make sound evaluations.
• Design and add security measures after go-live by reviewing how the system is used, so it works as intended.
• Advise users, clients and other technology groups, propose advanced programming solutions, and install and support customer-facing systems.
• Make sure essential procedures are followed and help set operating standards and processes.
• Mentor newer or junior analysts.
• Work with limited direct supervision, using your own judgement.
• Act as subject matter expert for senior stakeholders and team members.
• Take a rotating turn on L3 production support.
• Weigh risk in business decisions with close attention to the firm's reputation and its clients and assets. Keep to laws, rules and internal policy, act ethically, and report control issues openly.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with systems analysis and building software applications.
• Experience delivering projects successfully, from planning through to completion.
• Working knowledge of consulting and project management methods.
• Able to handle pressure, tight deadlines, and sudden shifts in expectations or requirements.
• Hands-on professional software development experience.
• Strong Java and React skills.
• Design, build and deploy scalable, resilient microservices using Spring and Spring Boot, containers, and distributed systems practices.
• Practise TDD and write clean code.
• Strong grasp of data structures and algorithms, plus solid PL/SQL with Oracle.
• Able to work on your own in a fast-changing, fast-moving environment.
• Working knowledge of GWT would be a plus.
• Preferred: experience in investment banking or financial services.
• Preferred: experience with cloud services such as AWS, and distributed systems such as Kafka, Kubernetes, S3, DynamoDB, MongoDB or another NoSQL database.
• Bachelor's degree or university degree in IT or a computer-related field.

Conditions

Full-time role.

Primary location salary range: $94,300.00 to $141,500.00.
