Gen AI - Python Engineer - Assistant Vice President

Description

This is an intermediate-level Gen AI engineer role at Assistant Vice President level. You will help set up and put in place new or revised application systems and programs, working with the Technology team.

Your core job is to analyse applications and contribute to their programming.

Responsibilities

• Carry out feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, IT planning, technology risk work, application development and model development.
• Oversee every stage of development, from analysis and design through build, testing and rollout, and support users and operations.
• Apply deep specialist knowledge to complex problems, judging business processes, system processes and industry standards.
• Propose and build security measures, and review how the system is used after launch.
• Advise users, clients and other technology groups, propose advanced programming solutions, and install and support customer-facing systems.
• Make sure core procedures are followed and help set operating standards and processes.
• Coach newer and junior analysts.
• Work with limited direct supervision and use your own judgment.
• Act as subject matter expert for senior stakeholders and team members.
• Weigh risk in business decisions, protect the company, its clients and assets, follow laws, rules and policy, and report control issues openly.
• Design, build and maintain high-quality, scalable and efficient Python code for Generative AI applications.
• Connect GenAI APIs such as OpenAI and Gemini to build new features and products.
• Build and refine Retrieval Augmented Generation systems so models give more relevant, context-aware answers.
• Build and deploy reliable backend services using FastAPI, Flask or Django.
• Work with product managers, data scientists and engineers to define requirements and deliver solutions.
• Write thorough unit and integration tests.
• Review code and help keep quality and engineering practice high.
• Improve the performance, scalability and security of applications.
• Optional: deploy and manage applications on container orchestration services such as OpenShift and ECS, where relevant.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

• Recommended: 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on Python.
• Recommended: hands-on experience with Generative AI concepts and technologies.
• Recommended: practical experience with GenAI APIs such as OpenAI and Gemini.
• Recommended: solid, hands-on experience implementing Retrieval Augmented Generation systems.
• Recommended: expertise in at least one modern Python web framework: FastAPI, Flask or Django.
• Recommended: strong grasp of development practice, including Git, testing and CI/CD.
• Recommended: experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Recommended: strong problem-solving skills, able to work independently and in a team.
• Recommended: strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Recommended: bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Optional: familiarity with Lightspeed.

Conditions

Full-time role based in Tampa, Florida, United States.

Primary salary range is $96,960.00 to $145,440.00.
