Description

The company is a group of engineers, designers and product strategists who modernize systems, build new products and recover projects that are off track.

They use cloud-native and AI-enabled tools and combine Agile, Lean and design thinking to work through client problems, aiming to get the solution right on the first attempt.

Many clients operate in regulated sectors such as healthcare, financial services, government and education.

Current work includes detecting diseases, finding children who need extra educational support, using AI in complex legal settlements, and improving access to mental health care.

The role is a senior position on a team that works across the full lifecycle, from early design through deployment and monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Build dependable, scalable backend services in Python on AWS, using Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS and EventBridge, with an emphasis on cost efficiency.
  • Design event-sourced systems that keep a full state history and can be audited.
  • Create event-driven pipelines that process messages reliably, handle duplicate messages safely and reach eventual consistency across services.
  • Turn product requirements into technical designs and working code with product managers and designers.
  • Apply security, logging and monitoring practices, and manage infrastructure as code with Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Review code thoroughly, coach junior and mid-level engineers, and raise the technical standard of the team.
  • Evaluate and adopt new technologies and patterns that speed up development or improve system performance.
  • Form and communicate your own view on using AI tools in the development lifecycle in a way that is effective, secure and ethical.
  • Use AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, agentic tools and large language models daily, and reason about their limits, security risks and what they change for engineering work.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional full-stack development experience.
  • Expert Python skills for backend work, including Django.
  • Strong working knowledge of Vue.js and TypeScript.
  • Hands-on experience building and running serverless applications, ideally on AWS Lambda, API Gateway and managed services.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, ideally PostgreSQL.
  • Solid grasp of event sourcing and event-driven design, including message brokers or streaming services such as SQS, SNS, EventBridge or Kinesis.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and infrastructure as code.
  • Proven, practical use of AI coding tools that produced measurable productivity gains, along with a clear understanding of the risks they carry, including code quality, security and intellectual property.
  • Experience with advanced AWS services such as Step Functions, Kinesis or SageMaker.
  • Experience working in a regulated or compliance-focused environment.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related technical field.
  • Ready to discuss in interviews: specific AI tools you have used in work or personal projects to boost productivity or solve hard problems, and your preferred agentic tool setup if you have one.
  • Ready to explain the current technical, ethical and accuracy limits of AI tools in engineering.
  • Ready to share a view on how AI opens new opportunities in software engineering, such as moving effort from boilerplate to complex problem solving or architecture.
  • Ready to describe how your own role has already changed through AI, including new workflows, skills and ways of working together, and how you expect it to evolve as the technology advances.

Conditions

The hiring process has three stages: an initial screening email, a technical assessment interview and a panel interview.

The company is an equal opportunity employer.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision and life insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with an annual employer match of 4%.
