Senior Full Stack Engineer

Description

The company brings together technologists, designers and product strategists who specialise in modernising systems, building new products and taking over projects that are off track.

The team builds with current cloud-native and AI-enabled tools and uses Agile, Lean and design thinking to tackle clients' hardest problems, aiming to get it right the first time.

Much of the work is in regulated sectors such as healthcare, financial services, government and education, including detecting diseases, finding children who need special educational support, using AI in complex legal settlements and connecting people with mental health services.

Responsibilities

• You will lead work across the whole software lifecycle, from early concept design through to deployment and monitoring.
• You will build sturdy, scalable backend services in Python on AWS Serverless (Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, EventBridge).
• You will create event-sourced systems that keep a full state history and support auditing.
• You will design cost-efficient, highly scalable backend services in Python on AWS, using Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS and EventBridge.
• You will architect event-sourced and event-driven pipelines that process messages reliably, handle idempotency and reach eventual consistency across distributed services.
• You will work with product managers and designers to turn requirements into technical designs and code that can ship.
• You will apply security and logging practices, monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• You will review code thoroughly, mentor junior and mid-level engineers and raise the technical standard of the team.
• You will research, propose and adopt new technologies and patterns that improve development speed and system performance.
• You will use AI tools daily, including GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, agentic coding tools and large language models, and form a clear view on how to bring them into the lifecycle safely, ethically and effectively.

Requirements

• At least 5+ years of professional full-stack software development experience.
• Expert-level Python for backend work, including Django.
• Strong working knowledge of Vue.js and TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience designing, deploying and running serverless applications, ideally on AWS Lambda, API Gateway and managed services.
• Proficiency in SQL, ideally PostgreSQL.
• A solid grasp of event sourcing and event-driven patterns, with experience using message brokers or streaming services such as SQS, SNS, EventBridge or Kinesis.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Proven use of AI coding tools that delivered measurable productivity gains, with a clear understanding of the risks such as code quality, security and IP, and how you reduce them.
• Experience with advanced AWS services such as Step Functions, Kinesis or SageMaker.
• Experience working in a regulated or compliance-focused environment.
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field.
• Be ready to show in interviews specific examples of AI tools you have used in work or personal projects to boost productivity, solve hard problems or speed up development, and share your preferred agentic setup if you have one.
• Be ready to explain the current technical, ethical and accuracy limits of modern AI tools in engineering.
• Be ready to explain how AI opens new opportunities for engineers, such as moving effort from boilerplate to complex problem-solving and architecture.
• Be ready to describe how your own role has already changed through AI, including new workflows, skills and ways of working together, and how you expect it to change as AI advances.
