Description

The company builds autonomous factories to reindustrialize America. It combines AI, advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing to help aerospace and defense companies make rockets, satellites, aircraft, ships, and other mission-critical systems faster and for less money.

After a $1.37B Series D at a $7.87B valuation, the company is growing its factories and adding capabilities in welding, casting, forging, electronics, additive manufacturing, and more. It is also scaling its Factory-as-a-Service platform.

Investors include JPMorgan Chase, Valor Equity Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund, 137 Ventures, Lux Capital, T. Rowe Price, and Morgan Stanley. The team is looking for people to help build American manufacturing and create jobs that last.

Responsibilities

  • You will own products from the first question of what to build through to launch and ongoing operation, and you will do it as a software engineer.
  • You will work directly with the people who run critical manufacturing programs, find the problems worth solving, and turn vague requirements into software that works.
  • Most of the work is 0 to 1. You will build new products, extend existing systems, and turn working prototypes into durable platform capabilities.
  • Most of your time will go into writing code, mainly in React, Next.js, TypeScript, Go, and Python. The company values sound engineering judgment over familiarity with this exact stack.
  • Nobody sits between you and the users. There is no product manager handing down requirements, so product judgment, technical depth, and speed all count.
  • The team is still early, so people who join now will shape the product direction and how the team works.
  • Take software from an empty repository to production, serving real users who rely on it.
  • Own a product area from the first unclear conversation through design, build, launch, and iteration.
  • Choose and document architecture, data models, and trade-offs so other engineers can follow your decisions.
  • Talk to users, observe how they work, and identify the real problem behind each request.
  • Ship quickly without dropping quality. Put working software in front of users early, keep code readable and tested, and feed what you learn back into the core platform.

Requirements

  • Solid software engineering background. You have shipped full stack applications, worked in large codebases, and led technical work on critical projects.
  • Strong system design skills. You build services, APIs, and data models that keep working as usage grows.
  • Strong product instincts and a record of 0 to 1 work. You care as much about what to build as how to build it, and you are comfortable shipping when requirements are unclear.
  • You work directly with users and communicate clearly. You turn customer needs into shipped software, explain trade-offs to any audience, and push back when a request does not fit the problem.
  • You are AI native and act quickly. You use AI throughout your workflow, can show how it speeds you up, and prefer the right solution to being right.
  • No prior aerospace, defense, or manufacturing experience is required.
  • What sets you apart:
  • Experience as a founder or founding engineer, having taken a new product from 0 to 1.
  • Experience owning a product area without a product manager, or working as a hybrid engineer and PM.
  • Experience building workflow tools or data-heavy applications for operations teams.
  • Experience in forward deployed, solutions engineering, or technical consulting roles, building against messy customer realities.
  • A visible body of work, such as a strong GitHub presence or projects you shipped outside of work.

Conditions

The target salary range is $223,000 - $359,000, and the actual figure may vary with experience. This is the lowest to highest base pay the company reasonably and in good faith expects to offer for this role when posted. The company may pay above or below this range and may change it later. Placement within the range depends on factors such as education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs.

The role is based in the Los Angeles (Torrance) or San Francisco Bay Area office. You will travel now and then to spend time onsite with customers and operators, but the role does not involve heavy travel or long deployments.

To comply with U.S. export rules, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen or national, a lawful permanent resident, a protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or someone eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

The company uses AI in its hiring process.

The company considers qualified applicants with criminal histories as applicable law requires, does not ask about criminal history on its application, and does not consider it before a conditional offer.

The company does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, national origin or ethnicity, veteran status, disability, age, sexual orientation, marital status, mental status, or any other legally protected status, and it provides reasonable accommodations where needed.
