Senior Full Stack AI Software Engineer (Java)

Description

The company Pharmacy Systems (MPS) is looking for a Senior Full Stack AI Software Engineer to help build and modernise the next generation of pharmacy technology.

You will design, develop and deploy cloud-based applications with Java, Angular, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and Azure, using modern AI-assisted engineering tools.

You will work alongside product managers, architects and engineers to deliver scalable, secure and highly reliable software that supports critical pharmacy operations. The team follows an AI-native SDLC. This is a hands-on role spanning application development, technical leadership, cloud-native architecture and AI-enabled engineering.

Responsibilities

• Build, test and ship full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, TypeScript and PostgreSQL.
• Create and maintain REST APIs and microservices that follow OpenAPI/Swagger standards and modern architecture principles.
• Use approved AI tools, including GitHub Copilot and Claude, to raise productivity, code quality and test coverage.
• Review AI-generated code for security, performance, scalability, maintainability and functional accuracy.
• Build user interfaces and admin tools that support business workflows and day-to-day operations.
• Design scalable, event-driven systems using Kafka and other distributed messaging platforms.
• Design and tune the core AI agent orchestration layer and runtime harness, handling multi-step task execution and model routing.
• Make sure quality holds end to end across UIs, APIs, databases, integrations and event-driven services.
• Set up automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and continuous delivery practices.
• Use observability and monitoring tools to improve reliability and support production systems.
• Take part in architecture reviews, code reviews and technical design discussions.
• Mentor engineers by sharing knowledge, collaborating on design and promoting good engineering practice.
• Work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software in an Agile setting.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent experience, typically with 7+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• 7+ years of software development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot and RESTful API development.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
• Experience building web applications with Angular, React, Vue, Next.js or similar JavaScript frameworks.
• Solid experience designing low-latency agent execution loops that manage multi-step tool execution (harness and orchestrator concepts).
• Strong SQL and relational database skills, including PostgreSQL.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies such as Kafka.
• Experience with source control, CI/CD pipelines and modern delivery practices.
• Experience writing and running automated tests.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging and production support skills.
• Nice to have: experience with Azure cloud services and cloud-native application development.
• Nice to have: experience with Docker and containerised deployments.
• Nice to have: experience with ORM technologies such as Hibernate or JPA.
• Nice to have: familiarity with Redis or other caching technologies.
• Nice to have: experience with feature management tools such as LaunchDarkly or Optimizely.
• Nice to have: experience with database migration tools such as Liquibase or Flyway.
• Nice to have: experience with observability and monitoring tools, including Dynatrace.
• Nice to have: experience with distributed tracing, metrics and structured logging.
• Nice to have: previous experience in healthcare, pharmacy or other highly regulated industries.

Conditions

Hybrid role: you will work onsite at the Las Colinas office at least two days a week and remotely on the other days. In-office days may change with business and team needs.

Office-based work involving long periods of sitting, computer use, and communication and collaboration both virtually and in person.

Base pay range: $126,000 - $210,000. Final pay depends on performance, experience and skills, equity, regular market reviews and location. The range follows the company's pay philosophy and complies with applicable regulations.
