Full-stack Engineer 4 (Java, Python, AWS)

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of varied technology projects and a team of developers who have deep experience with distributed microservices and full-stack systems, building solutions that help the company meet regulatory needs.
• Work with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that create powerful experiences and help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment.
• Set standards for design, development and operational excellence across Agile teams, providing technical leadership and direction.
• Partner with architects to define service boundaries, integration patterns and reusable frameworks.
• Mentor engineers and take part in internal and external technology communities.
• Keep up with tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, and evaluate emerging tools and practices to shape long-term technology strategy.
• Find areas for improvement, refactor where targeted, and contribute to efforts that reduce technical debt and improve system performance.
• Work in a 'you build it, you own it' environment.
• Use languages and tools including Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, open source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Docker and Kubernetes container orchestration, and a range of AWS services.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related quantitative field such as statistics, economics, operations research, analytics, mathematics or engineering.
• At least 4 years of software engineering experience. Internships do not count.
• At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools or virtualization technologies.
• Preferred: a master's degree in computer science or a related field.
• Preferred: 7+ years of coding with more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C and Scala.
• Preferred: 3+ years with databases and database management systems.
• Preferred: 3+ years with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools or virtualization technologies.
• Preferred: 4+ years contributing to open source frameworks.
• Preferred: 3+ years with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.
• Preferred: 4+ years creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs.
• Preferred: 3+ years with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code and automated testing frameworks.
• Preferred: 3+ years with Git-based version control systems such as Git, GitHub or Bitbucket.
• Preferred: 3+ years troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments.
• Preferred: experience with modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots.
• Preferred: experience with interactive AI tooling that goes beyond basic code completion to speed up your work.
• Preferred: 1+ year mentoring engineers and supporting their professional development.
• Preferred: 1+ year using observability to find and fix performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.
• Preferred: experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts or large-scale technical initiatives.
• Preferred: experience setting and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams.

Conditions

Base pay for this role in Plano, TX ranges from $179,400 to $204,700 per year for full-time work. Pay in other locations follows that location's range, and the exact salary is stated in the offer letter. Part-time pay is prorated to the agreed hours.

The role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI), and may be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
