Description

The Scam Prevention team is a software engineering group, working on hard, adversarial problems that protect the company's global customers directly.

The role is high impact and has a strong product focus.

The team sits on the front lines against financial crime. It uses machine learning, real-time transaction monitoring and data analysis to build controls and detection. The aim is a globally scalable fraud prevention engine that protects customer accounts and prevents scams, while meeting regulatory expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Build and improve the controls that stop customers from falling victim to scams.
  • Work on the backend and frontend of the scam prevention and detection systems, spending about 80% of your time on the backend and 20% on the frontend.
  • Own projects end to end, with a clear, measurable effect on customer security.
  • Help raise automation levels to speed up product growth, and help build a world-class money transfer product.

Requirements

  • Professional experience with Java or another JVM language, including the Spring framework.
  • Experience building scalable web applications that handle heavy traffic. React frontends with JavaScript or TypeScript are ideal.
  • Experience designing and running CI/CD pipelines, distributed systems and concurrent systems.
  • A strong product mindset and accountability. You can drive projects on your own and make data-driven decisions with the customer in mind.
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases, including query optimisation and resilient schema design.
  • Strong fundamentals, sharp problem-solving skills and a commitment to test-driven development and good coding practices.
  • Clear communication, so you can explain complex technical ideas to Product, Data Science and Investigations teams.
  • Familiarity with the machine learning lifecycle: data pipelines, feature engineering and deploying ML systems to production.

Conditions

The team has a strong focus on fraud and financial crime, and the work is direct and measurable.

The company welcomes applicants of every background and is committed to equal opportunity and inclusion.
