The role is a senior or lead hands-on technical position focused on how AI coding agents are brought into the engineering environment. It has no direct people management.
You will work on the workflows, tools and infrastructure that let AI agents support software development across several teams and projects, rather than on single AI-assisted tasks. The goal is agentic development that is scalable, secure and reliable across the full software development lifecycle.
You will combine solid engineering skills with hands-on agentic orchestration experience, working with development teams to roll out new capabilities, set best practices and keep improving the engineering ecosystem.
The main stack is Spring Boot, Java and Kotlin, with modern frontend work in React and Angular.
Responsibilities
Build and refine agentic workflows that cover planning, implementation, testing, review and delivery.
Create and connect the tools and infrastructure that link AI coding agents to repositories, development environments, CI/CD pipelines and other engineering systems.
Set up reusable technical patterns that scale across teams and projects.
Work out context engineering strategies so agents get the right information, constraints and technical knowledge.
Build quality gates, validation steps and human approval for AI-generated changes.
Define secure execution, covering permissions, isolation and controlled access to development environments and engineering systems.
Plan how workflows handle failures, retries, escalations and recovery.
Assess new AI coding agents, models and orchestration technologies and make sound decisions about adopting them.
Bring agentic workflows into the existing Spring Boot, Java and Kotlin environments and processes.
Improve monitoring, evaluation and execution tracking so agentic workflows stay observable, transparent and reliable.
Work with engineering teams to adopt agentic practices and help them succeed with them.
Give technical leadership and architecture guidance, set best practices and share knowledge across teams.
Find architectural, security and operational risks and keep improving the agentic development setup.
Requirements
Senior or lead level professional software engineering experience.
Strong hands-on Spring Boot skills and professional experience in Java and/or Kotlin.
Proven practical experience designing, building or running agentic development workflows.
Extensive hands-on use of modern AI coding agents, with a clear view of their strengths, limits and likely failure modes.
Experience connecting development tools, APIs, repositories, CI/CD pipelines and engineering platforms.
Solid grasp of software architecture, automated testing, development workflows and quality principles.
Ability to design reusable, scalable solutions for several projects and teams.
Good understanding of security, access management, permissions and controlled execution in automated development environments.
Architectural thinking that weighs technical alternatives and supports platform-level decisions.
Experience guiding technical choices and shaping engineering practice across teams.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and systems-thinking skills.
Independent, proactive and solution-focused, with a high sense of technical ownership.
Good communication and collaboration skills, including guiding colleagues without formal management authority.
Very good written and spoken English.
Nice to have:
Experience with Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot or similar coding agent platforms.
Experience designing multi-agent workflows or agent orchestration frameworks.
Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) or other agent-to-tool integration approaches.
Experience with context engineering and repository-level agent instructions.
Background in Platform Engineering or Developer Experience (DevEx).
Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes and cloud environments.
Experience with observability, tracing and evaluation of agentic workflows.
Knowledge of sandboxing and isolated execution environments.
Experience with LLM APIs or building AI-enabled engineering tools.
