The company is building a leading global digital sports platform. We ignite the passions of global sports fans and maximize the presence and reach for our hundreds of sports partners globally by offering products and services across the company Commerce, the company Collectibles, and the company Betting & Gaming, allowing sports fans to Buy, Collect, and Bet. Through the the company platform, sports fans can buy licensed fan gear, jerseys, lifestyle and streetwear products, headwear, and hardgoods; collect physical and digital trading cards, sports memorabilia, and other digital assets; and bet as the company builds its Sportsbook and iGaming platform. The company has an established database of over 100 million global sports fans; a global partner network with approximately 900 sports properties, including major national and international professional sports leagues, players associations, teams, colleges, college conferences and retail partners, 2,500 athletes and celebrities, and 200 exclusive athletes; and over 2,000 retail locations, including its Lids retail stores.

As a Senior Engineering Manager at the company, you will be a technical leader with the ability to grow and scale engineering teams that can deliver business results and ship high-quality software for customer-facing products and internal platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and technical expertise within your engineering vertical
  • Build and lead one or more teams to deliver software while adhering (and contributing) to engineering best practices
  • Manage, coach, and develop engineers working across mobile and backend platforms
  • Clarify technical requirements, negotiate priorities, and manage projects to deliver on time by leading daily scrum activities
  • Work closely with your product and design partners to create an ambitious, yet achievable roadmap that can be communicated to executives and stakeholders.
  • Drive reliable and predictable team execution by setting clear objectives, using data and KPIs to drive transparency, and champion continuous improvement across engineering practices and systems
  • Drive effective adoption of AI-assisted engineering workflows, including development tooling, documentation, testing support, code review augmentation, and developer enablement best practices
  • Provide clear updates (KPIs, status, metrics) to an executive audience and key stakeholders
  • Help to recruit, assess and onboard a diverse group of talented engineers
  • Bring together stakeholders across the company to align diverging ideas into an actionable roadmap
  • Remain technically engaged in architecture discussions, operational reviews, development workflows, and engineering quality practices while empowering engineers to own implementation details
  • Must be open to occasional travel to the company offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities
  • Required Qualifications :
  • 3+ years of experience managing one or more engineering teams
  • 4+ years of experience building highly scalable and fault tolerant systems
  • You have knowledge of a broad range of design approaches and can deconstruct an architecture to be developed by different teams
  • Able to scope a project with targeted dates to ensure your team meets business needs
  • Knows how to discern which features are essential, can be triaged, or omitted and works to negotiate with Product Management
  • Able to effectively communicate complex technical subjects to a variety of audiences (engineers, technical leaders, marketing and operations teams, non-technical functional leaders)
  • Familiar with Agile software product delivery and SCRUM methodology
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Solid report writing skills with the ability to gather, evaluate and analyze relevant information while structuring material in a logical and coherent manner.
  • Thrives in an entrepreneurial, hyper-growth environment where priorities evolve regularly and decisions are made quickly
  • Team-first mentality, with a willingness to do what it takes to get the job done and a desire to strive for better
  • Able to effectively work cross-functionally within an enterprise environment
  • Preferred Qualifications :
  • Experience working in a start-up environment
  • Strong mobile software engineering background
  • Experience working with Kotlin Multiplatform and/or Compose Multiplatform
  • Passion for sports cards, collectibles, or live commerce
