Many designers assume an in-house role means dull, repetitive work. This one is different: the team is reshaping how the brand presents itself to fans, mostly through the website, the app and campaigns built around major race moments.
You will ship work every week while helping shape a brand system that is still developing. Social content sits with a separate social team, so your focus is on larger, more considered projects.
The role suits a strong mid-level designer moving up to Senior, or an experienced Senior who wants to work on a brand they care about.
The company has competed in Formula 1 for almost 50 years, since its founding in 1977 by the late Sir Frank Williams and Sir Patrick Head. It ranks among the three most successful teams in the sport's history, with 16 World Championship titles and nine Constructors' Championships won with Cosworth, Honda and Renault. Seven Drivers' Championships were won by Alan Jones, Keke Rosberg, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve. The team aims to return to the front of the grid.
Responsibilities
Design and refine web pages, components, editorial layouts and email templates for the website and app, the team's main digital surfaces.
Create launch assets for new app features, product releases and campaigns from across the team.
Design user experiences for web, app and fan platforms, including memberships, content hubs and interactive features, from wireframes and prototypes through to high-fidelity UI.
Turn fan behaviour, data and test results into clear journeys that lift conversion and engagement.
Work with product, engineering and data colleagues to build and improve digital experiences.
Build a body of work that steadily improves how the brand shows up on its own digital channels.
Design high-performing creative for paid and organic channels, including social, digital, ecommerce and app.
Produce and iterate assets for multichannel performance campaigns on Meta, TikTok, Google, the website and the app.
Run A/B and multivariate creative tests, and refine work based on CTR, engagement, retention and conversion.
Build scalable creative systems and templates that support ongoing experiments.
Create assets for every stage of the fan journey, from acquisition to engagement and retention.
Work with growth, media and analytics colleagues to turn performance data into better creative.
Lead creative for major activations, such as the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the Las Vegas GP, custom livery reveals, fanzone events and the digital campaigns around them.
Deliver high-quality assets on tight turnarounds with the Fan Growth & Performance team, where an idea on Tuesday may need to ship on Thursday.
Create storytelling for race and non-race weekends, plus always-on digital content that feeds into social, optimised for reach and interaction.
Contribute to selected social-led campaigns with the social team, bringing in bigger creative when a unified look is needed.
Help evolve the visual identity with the Senior Design Manager and creative team, guided by what performs in market and by feedback from people using the brand daily.
Maintain and improve brand guidelines, motion principles and the component library as output grows.
Push a fan-first, data-informed approach across all work.
Look for chances to make the brand sharper, less conventional and more confident, and propose them.
Take briefs from start to finish: understand the ask, propose a direction, present it, respond to feedback and ship.
Connect brand storytelling with performance marketing and product UX so marketing, paid media and product design stay consistent.
Work with marketing, fan engagement, content producers, photographers, motion designers and external partners.
Manage several briefs at once at race week pace.
Requirements
5 to 7 years of design experience.
A portfolio showing performance creative for paid social and campaigns, plus digital product and UX work for web and app.
Sports, entertainment, lifestyle or premium consumer brand experience is especially welcome, though strong work from any industry counts for more than your background.
Real campaigns and live products in your portfolio, not only unbriefed concepts.
Strong typography and layout across digital, campaign and motion formats.
Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects) and Figma.
Proven work for paid media and growth teams, with a solid grasp of creative testing, optimisation and data-led design.
Able to move between web, app and campaign formats, knowing a hero banner, an app onboarding screen and a Silverstone fanzone graphic each need different thinking.
Collaborative and calm under pressure. You have firm views on craft, take feedback well, and can speed up without lowering the quality bar.
Genuine interest in Formula 1, or a clear habit of getting deeply into the sports you work with.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media or a related field; portfolio matters more than credentials.
Conditions
Work follows race week tempo, with fast turnarounds and several briefs running in parallel.
The company is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion, and will discuss reasonable job adjustments.
