Senior Design Execution Project Manager

Description

The company needs a senior project manager to run design work on hyperscale data center construction and other projects for a large technology client.

You will act as the client's agent, consultant, adviser and authorised owner's representative across all design phases and disciplines, until handover to the client's construction team.

Most of the work involves managing, coordinating and administering the design consultants the client uses.

You will take the program-level Plan of Record and adapt it into the local design.

The ideal candidate is comfortable running large design coordination meetings across several design disciplines, including page-turn design meetings.

This is a remote role that includes travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Run planning and kickoff workshops with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead design reviews together with external partners.
• Organise and run large-scale workshops when needed.
• Write scopes of work for contracts and win internal stakeholders' agreement to them.
• Issue contracts and manage them once in place.
• Set and track deliverables from all parties.
• Monitor cost, schedule, progress and scope.
• Report on the health of cost, schedule, scope and progress.
• Assemble effective design teams from matrixed internal staff and strategically procured external partners.
• Manage changes to project scope and design contracts.
• Guide technical decisions so they fit project needs.
• Align design work with procurement and construction.
• Communicate clearly and openly with internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Make sure engineering information reaches the right party, at the right time, in the right format.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture or a related field.
• Professional licensure (PE, NCARB or RA) is strongly preferred, though more than 10 years of significant professional experience may be accepted instead.
• Experience with data center design or construction is preferred.
• A strong grasp of construction principles and practices.
• Experience preparing project plans and specifications.
• Experience drafting scopes of work.
• Experience with government regulations.
• Experience managing several projects at once.
• A working knowledge of AutoCAD is required for drawing reviews and mark-ups.

Conditions

Base salary range is $150K-$175K USD. This is the company's good-faith estimate at the time of posting; the final figure depends on experience, skills, qualifications and internal equity.

You may be eligible for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package in addition to base salary.

SOX control responsibilities may form part of the role and must be followed where they apply.

This is a remote role with travel to project sites.
