Senior Design Execution Project Manager

Description

The company is hiring a senior project manager to run design work on hyperscale data center construction and other projects for a large technology client.

You act as the client's agent, consultant, advisor and authorized owner's representative across all design phases and disciplines, until handoff to the client's construction team.

Most of the work is managing, coordinating and administering the design consultants the client uses.

You take the program-level Plan of Record and adapt it into the local design.

The ideal candidate is comfortable running large multi-discipline design coordination meetings, including page-turn design reviews.

This is a remote role with travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and kickoff workshops with internal and external stakeholders.
• Run design reviews with external partners.
• Organise large-scale workshops when needed.
• Write scopes of work for contracts and secure agreement from internal stakeholders.
• Issue and manage contracts.
• Set and track deliverables from all parties.
• Monitor cost, schedule, progress and scope, and report their health.
• Form effective design teams from matrixed internal staff and strategic external partners.
• Manage change to project scope and design contracts.
• Guide technical decisions so they fit project needs.
• Coordinate design work with procurement and construction.
• Communicate clearly and openly with internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Make sure engineering information reaches the right party, on time, in the right format.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture or a related field.
• Professional licensure (PE, NCARB or RA) is strongly preferred, or more than 10 years of significant professional experience may be accepted in its place.
• Experience with data center design or construction is preferred.
• A solid grasp of construction principles and practices.
• Experience preparing project plans and specifications.
• Experience drafting scopes of work.
• Experience with government regulations.
• Experience managing several projects at once.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD is required for drawing reviews and mark-ups.
• SOX control responsibilities may be part of the role and must be followed where they apply.
